The laptop model Toshiba m70 equium is working fine with ac plug. but does not charge my battery and i bought new battery but that one does not charge too. the light comes on for 5 min. when i plug in the ac power, next to battery symbol in the front. it red color. so power is going to the battery, so connection is not the problem but why is it cut it off after 5 min.. and in the power meter it do not show charging too. is there software or hardware issue can anyone help. thank you.

Hello jorel, most likely its a failure of the system board particularly the charging section, a broken pin or a loose terminal. work will be internal, suggest you do away with the battery. its better to operate it at home, or bring the charger with you. Maybe its time to get a new one.
Hi, Try to Upgrade BIOS. This will work same problem i had with my HP Notebook.... My laptop was also working good without AC adapter and no response on Charging connection.
Sounds like you have a broken AC plug. You can buy them cheap and disassemble the laptop and soldier the new one in but unless your electronically capable I wouldn't try it yourself. You can Google your laptop model number and watch videos to help if you insist on doing it yourself.
Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is,
try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.
try removing the battery and power adapter for a few minutes then plug in just the power adapter and boot up. then shut all down and put in battery and adapter and see if that helps.
Sounds like a bad battery cause its not keeping a charge. Try a new or known good battery and see if it will charge and then unplug the ac adaptor to see if the laptop stays on.
If the laptop stays on with a different battery charged then your old battery is bad. If your laptop doesn't stay on with a known good or new charged battery without the ac adaptor hooked up then its a bad motherboard.
