My fairly new (15 months old) pricey Kenmore Elite side by side icemaker is not making ice. Sears Home Repair was out...tech said the "motor" was bad and replaced it for $250. He said "you'll have ice in 2 hours" and of course more than 24 hours later, it still has not produced any ice. The water dispenser works fine and am not convinced that the motor was bad since the result is still the same. Any suggestions as they're scheduled to return again tomorrow?
Amyc, of course you should call this cat back, but here are a few things to check. Make sure that the fill tube is not frozen over. The black tube feeding water to the IM. Next with the freezer door open your optics should flash twice with a pause repeatedly. Hold the left side emitter flap down and the light should be on steady. If this checks, the optics are good. The ice maker rakes should be at the 2:00 position when it's in it's home positon. Any other position could be a bad module. When the cat comes back to check it out, make sure he jumps the ice-maker to get the unit to fill before he leaves...Catriver..post back.

Thanks for replying. I did check the optics and they check out o.k. We've also had the frozen feeding tube before this and that doesn't seem to be the problem either. Any other suggestions?
I have a Kenmore side by side model 106.55242400. The water dispenser work fine. Ice maker not getting any water. I ran the unit without the filter for a short time until I replaced it. The clear water tube going up to the Ice maker
in the back has water going half way up, The water in the tube is not a flow getting to the ice maker. the frig is 3 years old. Thanks for your help.
