Need to rewire a peg perego 12 volt gator

I purchased the wiring from battery to gearboxes but need to know if I did it right because I am getting no result. I already checked the battery and it is fine. This is the older model. Before I did this it did run in 2nd gear but no first and no reverse. Thanks,Paula

Sounds like you have a bad motor, try disconnecting one of the motors and then try it again

SOURCE: peg perego gator grinding noise?

The Peg Perego Gearbox is the item that would make a clicking noise or grinding noise.
There are two different types.
One is a cross shape and another is a pentagon shape.
If you contact the folks at http://www.shopjandl.com/ they will be able to tell you what type you need. I get all my parts from them because they help me figure the problems out.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Our Peg Perego Gator has a brand new battery yet

I would check to see if both wheels are spinning in high.
If only one spins, then it may have a loose connection on one of the motors.
You can also get the specific peg perego gator switches from the guys at
http://www.shopjandl.com/kids---baby-ride-on-toys-peg-perego.html
They also have a phone number that you can call them to explain theproblem with the vehicle, they seem to know a lot about them.
Hope this helps.

I want to test motors on pergo gator can i hook up reg 12 volt lawn battery to test that they spin or can i test charger

no don't hook it up to regualr 12 volt battery, first check the voltage of the peg perego battery and make sure that its putting out 12 volts, then you can use jumper wires and connect to the motors with the peg perego battery and verify that they work

Our son's peg perego john deere gator stopped working and we thought it was the battery so we bought a new battery. We charged the new battery for 24 hours and hooked it up to the gator but it still gave...

It is most likely the Gearbox, it is easy to find and easy to replace. It is right under the gear shifter and is a "harness" with wires that will need replaced, if you call the tech support for Peg Perego they are very helpful and will get you on the right track. Your old battery is most likely fine, but keep it until you fix the gearbox switch. Afterward (when gator is again operational) I would imagine you could return the new battery since you really should not need it. Peg Perego support is 1800-728-2108 and you can also look for parts at www.mypegperegoparts.com

My Peg-Perego John Deere Battery Powered Gator HPX will no longer drive

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in

Replace parts on ride-on toys

The little tikes gearbox and the peg perego gator gearbox are located in the same area.
The seat comes off the hummer which will expose the motors.
Then you take off the push nuts on the axle which holds the wheels on.

The peg perego gator gearbox is shown by taking off the two black hinge pins on the dump bed in the back.
Then carefully pull the green plastic cover off and that is under the dump bed. Now you can take off the axle and remove the motors and gearboxes.
Important note: You will have a cross shape gearbox or a pentagon shape gearbox. Make sure you notice them before you order! I made the mistake and ordered the wrong gearbox.
You can purchase these at this website I found
http://www.shopjandl.com/kids---baby-ride-on-toys-peg-perego.html

I get all my parts from this site. They are easy to work with and know what they are talking about on the phone.
Hope This Helps

Replace parts on ride-on toys

The gearboxes for both hummers and peg perego gators are under the back seat.
If you hear a clicking noise It is definatly the gearbox on the gator. The hummer gearboxes sometimes come loose from the motors, so it may be as simple as tightning the motor gearbox.
Here is how you take the gearboxes out from the gator.
1. disconnect battery
2. take hinge pins out from the dump bed to access the green cover plate.
3. take a flathead screwdriver and pry around the plastic cover to expose the gearboxes.
4. take the rear wheels off and remove the rear axle.
remove the motor gearboxes (they are interchangeable)
5. install the new gearboxes making sure the wires are secure and the wheels are going in the correct direction.
6. put back together.
7. hook up battery and your good to go!
If you have any problems are questions you can contact these guys at http://www.shopjandl.com/kids---baby-ride-on-toys-peg-perego-switches-and-shifters.html.
They have a toll-free number and are very smart when it comes to these peg perego ride on toys.
