The burning plastic smell sounds like your belt is worn and the drive motor is heating up to the point where it is melting the plastic. You should make sure the power is off and check the belts, transmission, clutch, and drive motor.

SOURCE: MY BEKO 1613S WONT WASH MY CLOTHES

Quite a common problem. The least common is the actual failure of the timer itself. It is much more commonly caused by the failure of the heater, water valve, pump, a broken wire or even a blockage in the pressure system or waste system.

SOURCE: want start unless you slam lid or push start knob in and out

HI, Check and see if the door hinge screws are tight. Sometimes the hinge loosens and the lid switch will not activet properly. It the lid is tight, you might have a lid switch going bad. The lid switch is located under the control panel. There is a screw in each corner of the control panel in the back side. Loosen these screws and lift the control panel up and it will rest on the hinges.
Ths lid switch is to the left and should have three wire to it. Parts# 8318084
I hope this helps you. If I can assist you further or you need a place to order the lid swtich, please give my web site a chance at www.whirlpoolpartssurplus.com

Good Afternoon Leszek - Thank you for your question. Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like the unit has a faulty timer or a potential wiring failure. Try reprogramming the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the unit. If issue persists, then at this point I strongly suggest reaching out to a professional that can accurately diagnose and repair the washer.

My Hotpoint wf000 1000 spin model won't spin. It goes through a full wash cycle, agitates fine, but just won't spin at the end of the wash. Any help appreciated.

Sorry if it may be too obvious, but have you checked the philtre? generally they stop spinning when it's stuffed... when you open it, make sure you have a mop and bucket handy, some water will come out!

My hotpoint wd 860 washing machine won't spin and

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Indesit (Hotpoint, Ariston) 'F05' decodes as 'pump'blocked'.

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a Hotpoint WDF740 washer dryer. When I turn the dial it doesn't register any cycle it doesn't make any noise when the dial is turned, therefore I can't use the machine at all. Can this...

This just happened to my hotpoint washing machine, I realise it has been a long time since this has been asked but since my answer is different from the others I thought I'd add it anyway in the hope it will be useful to someone one day. The fix was super easy, all that was wrong was the plastic knob itself, which had broken internally. I only found this out after taking the top and front covers off, which is an easy enough procedure, I did it this way: unplugged the washing machine, removed two screws from back of machine that hold top cover in place, then using a putty knife pushed between the top and front covers front to back right at the corners, thus releasing the top cover, once this was out I could unclip the front cover and get to the screws that hold the control board to the front cover. I unplugged the electrical connection to the board, removed all the screws and unclipped it from its plastic cover. At this point I could see the plastic knob had broken, I recovered the broken bit and glued it back on. After the glue dried, I just put everything back in place reverting the previous actions. Hope this helps. If you don't have glue or can't find the broken piece, you should be able to just buy another plastic knob off the internet.

AQXGD Hotpoint front loader. Won't unlock. Says f5 on display and that washing machine is blocked. Has now unlocked itself and I've taken washing out, but lots of water at bottom. Closed door and...

Hi I hope the picture below helps, I can help you further with this as I have found that mine was a 5p blocking my pump fan at the bottom behind the lower front cover, I can talk you through how to do that, but it does involve unplugging the washer firstly, then using a sponge & bucket to remove as much water from the drum as possible & then tipping back machine & propping it up under with a strong solid object that can hold its weight for a while, but then slide a good solid tray under to catch the excess water & an old towel or rags near by for any splashes, then by undoing the front lower flap with a butter knife there are lugs about an inch in from each end, gently pop them down carefully & remove white cover, then by twisting the grey circle cap that is at the front of the pump fan, this can be hard to turn, but follow the arrows, I have had to turn mine using pliers before, turn this slowly because water will come out & it will be fast if you turn it to quickly soaking the floor, once removed look & see what is obstructing the pump fan blades, maybe a hair clip or a coin or limescale & hair etc, give it a good sweep around & rotate the fan blades & inspect closely with a torch to see any minor scratches or damage the fan, this may indicate the item is blocking something or if it's gone the other side of the fan or not, once this has been cleared & rotates & the filter if there is one has been cleaned & replaced back then reassemble it all together & then resit the machine, please leave & allow it to settle for a few mins to be sure that there is no leaks from the area you opened (sometimes a few drops as the water tipped backed wards will rush forwards & then it will be resealed, after a 5-10 min wait plug the washer back in, set it to the pump out & spin programme & this should clear the problem, it did with mine last summer... I hope this solves the problem..
I did add a picture from their website depicting what the error code is trying to indicate to you, but you probably have already looked for this already, Hope this helps....

Performa washing machine not spinning

you will most probably find that the inside of the belt that runs on the pulley has been breaking away bit by bit and if the pulley stops where there is a bit missing it may not turn when the pulley starts to turn.
Just a thought as it has happened to me a few times
The odor is most probably burning rubber as the pulley spins on the belt

Kenmore series 80 model 110

If you are talking about the Cycle Selection knob, turn the washer to an OFF position, or unplug. I can't remember if you need to pull the knob out or leave pushed in, but the knob will come off by turning it counter-clockwise. After unscrewing it and removing, the plastic dial under the center knob will simply pull off. I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please let me know.
