How do you take bowl off for cleaning

You must have to align things on the bowl to release something - I cannot advance much beyond that - what is the secret? I don't want to break the bowl trying to get it off.

Hope you've worked it out by now, but there are 2 notches at the bottom of the bowl that slot into the base. To remove the bowl, take the lid off and rotate the bowl clockwise so the notches disengage from the base, and simply lift it off/. I assume if you couldn't do this the bowl must have had a lot of gunk stuck in the notches which prevented it from moving - yuk! I put my bowl and lid in the dishwasher - no prob.

Kitchenaid kneading blade stuck

Check that the safety lock pin is releasing from the base. It is the thing in the tube down the side of the bowl that the lug on the lid engages with. It stops the motor running with the lid off..

Safety pin on food processor won't retract

It sounds like the safety interlock system on your Cuisinart 14 cup food processor is engaged, preventing the bowl from fitting securely onto the base. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
  1. Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.
  2. Use a small, pointed object such as a toothpick to gently push the white safety pin up and out of its locked position. This may take some effort.
  3. Check the base of the food processor for any obstructions or debris that may be preventing the bowl from fitting correctly. Clean any debris you find.
  4. Reinsert the bowl onto the base, ensuring that it is properly aligned and twisted into place.
  5. Press the bowl down firmly onto the base until you hear and feel it click into place.
  6. Plug the unit back in and test it to see if the safety interlock system has been disengaged and the food processor is working normally.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to take the unit to a professional repair technician or contact Cuisinart customer service for further assistance.

Need a product manual

Try going here:

Look for a machine with the same style / bowl size as yours if your specific machine is not available. You can even download more than one to get additional recipes!

The main important thing if you have an older machine is to make sure when putting it together that the feed tube from the top aligns with the part of the bowl with the spring, so the button on the base gets depressed correctly. For some, the spring mechanism is on the front with the handle, for some it is opposite the handle.

If you put the top on backwards it won't work correctly, and you might break the catch when trying to get it apart... either on the lid, or the bowl, or both. It can be an expensive mistake.

How does the slide lock on the Cuisinard Custom 11 Food Process go back on?

The main important thing if you have an older style machine is to make sure when putting it together that the feed tube from the top aligns with the part of the bowl with the spring, so the button on the base gets depressed correctly. For some, the spring mechanism is on the front with the handle, for some it is opposite the handle... check the base for the tiny button to double check.

If you put the top on backwards it won't work (at least not correctly) -- but what's worse is that you are likely to break the locking mechanism when trying to get it apart... either on the lid, or the bowl, or both. It can be an expensive mistake.

Luckily, bowls and lids are available from Cuisinart... and many times the same bowl/lid was used for different machine numbers (the various models are about the base, not the bowls/lids/blades/etc.)

Work bowl stuck.

Hello. It will release. Just use a wooden spoon wrapped in a towel to gently tap on the handle until it moves and releases. J.

It won't turn on

It may simply be that the bowl and cover are not completely in position. The bowl must be locked in place with the handle straight to the front, only then can the lid be locked into place. Then the pusher must be be in--it has a part that interlocks with the lid and prevent the motor from starting until it is in position. Hope this helps!

I have an IONA POWER + food processor. It works well but I can't remove the blade. Is there something to release it? Don't see anything on the shaft that it is attached to.

This answer comes 12 years later, mebbe toooo late. Turn the plastic bowl clockwise to unlock it.At the bottom of the bowl there are two rectangular holes. Insert some thick object like steak knife handle so it will come on top of the salient part. Use theses inserted thingy-s as levers. When you lift up from outside the bowl will go up, pushing the blade out. It works all the time, but don't forget to lube the shaft sleeve so you can lift the blade more easily.

Cuisinart dlc-7 superpro food processor won't run.

The DLC-7 SuperPro is awesome -- very powerfull. Be aware they are 1.5 horsepower; the blade can take your hand completely off in a blink of an eye. Because of the potential danger, SAFEGUARDS are in place such that everything must be aligned and in correct position or it WILL NOT POWER-UP. So, yes, is very likely the safety switch.

Simple test: Use just the BASE, (no work bucket, no top, no blades), such that if it starts, only the spindle will turn. There is a little black button on the base, just back of the spindle. Use a chop-stick to depress it. Plug-in, press the button w/chop-stik, press the PULSE button. It should power up.

Presuming it powered up okay, the "problem" is probably in how the unit is assembled; such that the button is depressed properly.
1. The work bowl must be all the way down on the base, and the alignment column in the back, work bowl base skirt turned to the "Hard Stop". It will feel very solid when docked properly.
2. The top inserts and rotates into and snaps into position while pressing the plunger into the button.

It all sounds too easy, but if something is just a little off, the plunger doesn't plunge ind the power doesn't go on.

These are FABULOUS machines -- spend the time into getting it working. The near- equivalent if something this robust and powerful in today's products will cost nearly a THOUSAND dollars - seriously.

Cuisinat DLC 8 Plus Bowl won't unlock

You have to remove the pusher first by twisting it off. Then press the sides of the pusher sleeve inward and slide the sleeve up and out of place. Then twist off the lid - all twisting on these food processors works either clockwise or counterlcokwise - not both. Then twist the work bowl to the left (clockwise). Voila!

How to get bowl off the base

There is no switch or relase - you just have to grip the sides and twist them off the base locks - requires quite a bit of force - not the easiest thing to remove.
