Picture used to be full screen on HD network stations.

Now I only have a 37" picture on a 42" TV. There used to be a "landscape" feature, but it seems to have disappeared, and "zoom" just enlarges the 37" picture. Movie channels are fine; they're full screen and full HD; it's only the HD versions of the network (NBC, ABC, CBS, etc) stations that are 37". Help!

My LG HD tv screen has a wide, gray band on either side of the picture

Try changing 'perspective' or screen ratio.
This may work, but could also stretch the picture too wide,
On my non-LG TV this is called 'aspect ratio' under the 'picture' menu.

Can't get full picture when not on HD station

Check its screen resolution settings. 4:3 and 16:9. If it is set to 16:9, bottom and top part of the screen will cut off. The same effect will be there if it is set to 'wide' format.

Dull picture

An LCD TV set need to used a picture in native resolution for give you a good picture. In other word you need to receive an HD signal to have a nice picture. If you tune on a station that give you a none HD signal you will see a dull picture like you said. The only way to dont see this effect in standard d?finition is to use or buy a plasma tv set. Or check only HDTV.

How can I have a full view of a hd station?.. while watching football it doesn't show the bottom part where the score is and in the top it's all cut off. I already tried setting it up on full screen and...

If you have to use the "ASPECT" button on the remote, set the screen to "JUST" it gives you full screen without "morphing" the picture. If you are using HD cable, SAT, Or FIOS, check the main settings menu in the cable/sat/fios box. make sure its 16 x 9 or "Full" If you still have an issue, post a comment with the details of products connected to your TV. Makes and models and I will help you further. Hope this helps.

Picture problem

If all your wanted is to widen the picture then just push aspect or format on your remote control and put it on either 16:9 or full. But if your referring to HD then an HD picture fills the screen by itself no matter what setting you have the tv set to. If the screen isnt full then the program your watching isnt broadcasting in HD at that time. A common misconception is that because its an HD tv or an HD channel that it always should show in HD. This isnt true. It goes by the broadcast

I cannot get my cable to show in full screen. I have Time Warner HD service. Im hooked up right, but my picture does not use the whole 37" screen. When I change my picture width, I get No Scale, Full,...

For HD you have to have a square screen
Sorry to disagree; the standard screen has an aspect ratio of 4:3, this is far more 'square' than the 16:9 (aka 'wide screen') which is standard for HDTV. If you are on cable or satellite service, you may well have to pay extra to have the whole of your screen available for viewing.
That is why only 'over the air' broadcasts are absolutely affected by the change from analog to digital next February but other sources do not have to change over to the new standard and the 4:3 sets will work fine without any extra box until those sources decide to 'go digital.'

LG service is non- existent . The only solution that I can suggest is "Give a wide berh to LG products. Dont ever touch any"

Size of screen

If you have black panel os sides the picture is not HD. Not allways the HD broadcasting have HD shows. The advertising for example is not HD. Check the picture size in the tv to be "allonged" and play with the screen size with your cable box remote. Usually is # button.
From what I know LC42D62U has no TV Guide feature.
