Please help!!! Problem with JVC DLP TV

Hello i have a JVC model # HD56G786 DLP TV. The problem i have is that the set will not turn on. Whe i try to boot the set up it starts as normal as the blue power light stays on and the small red lamp/program led blinks slowly, but after a few seconds the blue power light goes out and the red lamp/program light begins to blink rapidly. I have checked the lamp and it is good. I have a feeling it is in the power supply board but there is no visible damage to any of the components on the board so I am not sure which component is bad if it is the power suppy board at all. all help on possible fixes for this would be great. not sure if this a common issue but if it is it hopefully will be an easy fix.

Hi,
How old is your TV?
Lamps in DLP TV has specific working hours and physically lamp will look good but won't give light ( actually consume more current and protection circuit stops power supply)
Thank you.

Please help!!! Problem with JVC DLP TV

You need to replace the power supply board. The new ones have a bigger heat sink - obviously JVC knows about the problem because they made the new ones bigger. It cost $250 from JVC and I installed it myself - took about 3 hours to do. If you are not tech savvy call a repairman. Hope this helps.

Qustion about a JVC DLP set. Please help!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Sorry but there could be a number of possibilities and the best diagnosis would be to perform voltage checks of critical boards and compare with known readings. Common problems could be as simple as cold solder or loose connections, thermal fuse of the cooling fan or the light engine in some models not necessarily what you have.

This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I would agree with you on that the power board could be at fault. The best course of action would be to get the board/TV checked out professionally. It could be the dry joints, resistors or capacitors.

MY JVC HD56G786 TV

If the Mirror broke while the TV was sitting upright, the pieces of glass got down inside the light engine and the cooling fans. I don't think you took the light engine apart to clean out all of the glass so the main cooling fan is probably not running and causing the warning. There is no sensor for the mirror. Did you remove the chassis to clean the glass? You cna remove it again and try powering it up out of the cabinet. There are four fans that need to be running. If the light engine is filled with glass the fan at the bottom of the air exhaust will not turn.
I am fairly certain that since the TV was discarded there is more wrong with it than a broken mirror.

It's easy, you just have to go back into the menu setup for the auto channel/tuner setup and rescan for channels. I'd noticed this as well when playing around with the tv when I'd bought it and it had done the same to me.
