Just fixed the same problem. Its a broken belt. Take the front panel off and to the right of the tub you will see a pulley and belt. We replaced both the pulley and the belt for around $40. Was real easy to do yourself.

Sounds like the belt may be off. Was it moved with the shipping braces out? It may have caused some internar damage. You might check to see if the hum is coming from the door lock area. If the lock is out it won't let drain or spin.

sounds like something is stuck in drain pump
washer will not go into high spin untill water is pumped out
SOURCE: washer will not start washing cycle. Machine hums like the dryer
Check the drain for clog. If the drain is dirty, the washer won't fill, rinse, or drain.

more than likely the pump is clogged if you pull the the washer out away from the wall and then lean it back to get under it there is a hole to access the under side you can reach through to the pump then disconnect the large hose that goes from the tub to pump reach down inside of this hose remove the cup that has debris in it and clear it out remove the debris and reassemble the washer

the hum itself is coming from the rear of the unit. having problems accessing the rear of unit to pin point the origin of the hum. I found a belt on bottom under the tub however havent found the pulley the check if its broke or what
the washer itself will not turn on, it just hums
I would like to say this is easy to diagnose without a professional, but it is not. Depends on how and where it was dropped and damaged. These drums can easily be put off balance and damage the internal or external drum. You could also just have the drum off the pulley system. Either way, I would contact a professional to be completely safe.
