I have a Kenmore "80 Series," model #110.28812790 washing machine. I was having a problem with not getting any water in the tub's figured out that it was the water intake valve. I replaced it with a new one and put the machine back together. Now I get water when it's on warm only and the water will not shut off when the tub is full. Could I have knotted something loose or is it another bad part? Thanks for the help Brian
THE WATER LEVEL /PRESSURE SWITCH IS MOST LIKELY AT FAULT OR THE TUBE LEADING TO IT. POWER OFF/ PLUG OUT PULL CLEAR TUBE CAREFULLY OFF THE SWITCH PART FILL ABOUT 1/4 FULL AND BLOW THROUGH TUBE IF YOU HEAR BUBBLES TUBE IS O.K. NOW BLOW INTO SWITCH ANOTHER PIECE OF TUBING IS BEST WAY TO DO THIS SWITCH SHOULD CLICK IF NOT IT IS FAULTY. IF IT DOES CLICK CHECK CONTINUITY WITH A METRE /METER . NEEDLE SHOULD SWING AS SWITCH CLICKS. IF NOT SWITCH IS DUFF AND SHOULD BE REPLACED
See this causes:
Water-inlet valve
the valve is defective, test again see the diagram
Water-level switch
test for open or defective, will not shut off the water.
see the diagram
SOURCE: no cold water going into tub, valve is open
make sure the hoses are not kinked and check the screens inside the valve inlet and make sure they are not clogged
SOURCE: Kenmore Washing Machine - no cold water coming in
most likely cuase would be the inlet valve
you would need the complete model number to make sure you get the right part for that unit.
SOURCE: kenmore 80 series washer will not fill. replaced
You will have to have an electrical test done. If it's not filling, that means there's no current getting to the fill valve. Have a qualified technician do an electrical test. But also, have him test the timer, too!

It's quite possible. First see the Sears parts list for your washer with diagrams of all major parts.

Then see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for these washers and check the troubleshooting section.
