Vitamix 5000 stopped during smoothie making..variable speed switch then seems to lull as you turn it upwards. It acts like there is a short in the switch when I jiggle it. Is this just a problem with the switch that I can fix?

I am having a similar issue. Vitamix Corp with rebuild your machine for $145, shipping not included. Call their service center for details. Did you try the machine again after it cooled. Maybe it was the high temp limit switch. Best of luck.
