My nokia n73 is not working in dual and 3g mode still i have bsnl 3g sim on the other hand it is working in 2g mode

    DEAR
    SIR,
    I AM USING NOKIA N73M.E. FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. PROBLEM IS THAT I AM
    UNABLE TO USE IT IN 3G MODE i.e UMTS/DUAL MODE. BUT FEW MONTHS BEFORE I
    WAS ENJOYING 3G SERVICES ON IT. BUT NOW IT IS NOT WORKING IN 3G MODE. I
    HAVE 3G SIM BUT STILL I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCESS 3G NETWORK. ON THE OTHER
    HAND IT WORKS FINE IN 2G MODE. IN 2G MODE I CAN CALL/SMS AND ACCESS
    INTERNET. BUT IN 3G MODE I CAN'T DO THE SAME. I FORMAT MY SET BY DAILING
    *#7370# AND UPDATE IT WITH LATEST VERSION. I TRIED SO MANY 3G SIM BUT
    FAILED. PLEASE SUGGEST.

Out of many (maybe even most) models, Nokia does make versions with only "EDGE" for regions like China where 3G hasn't been allowed until very recently.

Sometimes they are also sold in different regions where they are not intended to be sold (but in those cases I bet it hasn't been Nokia that sells them, but unauthorized resellers/importers).
ok i am trying to format it but still couldn't find any solution yet.

Hi, you have done all the procedure what you need to do.But let me tell one thing ....Please check the secondary (Front )camera....If the secondary camera doesn't works 3g will never works.Thanks for visiting fixya

hey ........i wanna confirm that your nokia n73-1 is a gsm enabled phone right.....?? i can see that you reside somewhere in west bengal.....ask your bsnl customer care  for more detalis on that one......hope this helps....pleaze rcommend me if this helps

If you can find your way on your phone on the phone network settings (GSM or 2G/3G) you maybe able to change the setting to UMTS.

Please take note, on some phones, UMTS, 3G, 3.5G, HSDPA may all be the same.
Most often you can only select 2G or 3G, 3G may actually mean UMTS/HSDPA/3G/3.5G.

Just curious, may I know the reason why you want UMTS? Perhapd I understand what you want to do, so I can give a better recommendation.

I am purchase nokia dual sim nokia. sim 1 bsnl 3g connection, sim 2 vodaphone. my main no, bsnl. but nokia c2 coverage very low. not bsnl coverage problem.
ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE NETWORK COVERAGE OT VODAPHONE , THERE IS NOTHING YOU COULD DO ABOUT IT, EXCEPT TO WAIT FOR BETTER SIGNAL.

Right now i m using NOKIA C5 handset with BSNL 3G sim.. i wanted to access internet with this. I m not able to get settings for internet access.

Activate GPRS by sending GPRS PRE to 53733.
3. GPRS will be activated within 24 hours. After the GPRS is activated call the customer care for the GPRS settings.
4. Setup your phone according to the settings given by BSNL's Customer Care.
5. Now do a e-Recharge with Rs.230, or whatever unlimited plan exists in your area.
6. Go to your mobile phones network settings and select Dual Mode or UMTS as your Network Mode. In Nokia Mobiles, you can find this setting under Tools > Settings > Phone > Network> Network Mode.
7. Search for BSNL 3G signals, you will see a 3G logo near the network name. Set it as default.
8. That's it now you can surf the Internet at 3G speeds. You will get near about 500kbps to 1200 kbps speed.
Note: Use BSNLEGPRS or BSNLPREPAID as your Access Point.

To get the Bsnl 3G setting please call Bsnl customer care .
They will send you the Bsnl 3G setting.After you recieve please save the settings to your
phone and make it as default setting.You can start browsing internet.
