Sony memory stick PRO Duo 2GB Pc will not display photos on PC

The photos are accessible on the camera and can be viewed, but when I plug the camera into a computer with the cable it shows only a few data files and no photos!

Videos can be viewed on the computer with Winamp but still don't show when i open the Sony memory stick drive.

I have also tried using a separate USB Memory card reader and that doesn't work either.

is it possible that the memory stick may have a virus, and what can i do about that?

Any help will be much appreciated,
Thank you,
Felix Miller.

Hey all actual solution...sort of will get you your files well it worked for me.

i have winrar on my windows 7 pc but should work for anything with winrar.

  1. open my computer
  2. right click memory stick pro duo
  3. click "add to archive"
  4. in the winrar window under format on the left hand side of the window half way down select "zip" format
  5. click "ok"
  6. once your files have archived the DCIM folder and MISC folder will be in the archived file and should be accessible from there
  7. NOTE: you cannot extract files after the archive has been created DCIM folder and MISC folder will still be invisible even if you extract them from the archive.
  8. Files can still be drag and dropped out of the DCIM folder onto desktop or chosen destination from the archived file.
Hope this has been helpful to all reading this and everyone who posted the problem :D

Hi there,no mention of wheather or not you have the camera software loaded or which operating system you are using either so this may help.

When you plug camera in to the computer do you get the
FOUND NEW DISK message???There are 4 messages normally with XP...

If XP OR Vista it will auto recognise,
Let the new device install the drivers, let it auto install
(follow the wizards step by step)
when done it will show you device is ready for use,
this should allow you access to the computers new device as a memorycard or another removable drive,
if using USB to connect then you should have a couple of folders,
One for photos and one for video files,
DCIM Digital Camera IMages.....
should be able to copy and paste from these folders or the cameras software will have an import function and you select where to put the contents and away you go.

If using 98 --- This may need the drivers to work correctly too.......
You get them from the cameras software disk or download them for the manufacturers site.

Hope this helps,Please let me know if you need more assistance,

If you do need assistance I will need the models of the camera and the computer and OS your using,,,,,Thanks and good luck

My Sony memory stick pro duo magic gate mark 2 is not shows images on pc but in my camera, but the photos are visible on Sony cybershot camera

Some Sony Cybershot camera's have a small amount of memory built into the camera. Double check that the camera is set to put the pictures onto the memory stick.
If the camera is set up correctly, the memory stick may not be formatted correctly for your computer. If at all possible, connect the camera to your computer directly with the USB cable that should have come with it.

My camera tells me it's full when it shouldn't be. I have a 2gb sony memory stick pro duo for my Sony Alpha 100 camera. Today, I shot about 80 photos and it said it was full, but I had just deleted all...

hi, sometimes old photos tend to stay inside due to some defect or settings. instead of deleting photos. format the card once before you start clicking the photos. formatting can be done in PC or in your camera. if this does not solve the problem. please revert back to us. thank you. sweet rascal

Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo Not reading

Get a USB card reader, insert the memory card into the card reader and then connect the card reader into the USB port of your computer.
The computer will see the memory as an external memory device, now you can view the data/images and copy them to your computer.
