If you are gonna work on your own Harley, shell out the $60.00 for an H-D manual. They have a basic wiring diagram inside.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If the starter relay in your version uses blue / white and red / white wires, then to my understanding, connection would be:

  • blue / white - goes to the start switch and is supplied with +12 on starting;
  • red / white - goes to the starter circuit cut-out relay. This cut-out relay controls whether the starting relay gets a ground based on neutral/gear and clutch lever conditions.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

SOURCE: i need a wire diagram

The wiring is simple for a starter. You have a starter solenoid on the bike and a starter relay. When you press the button to start your bike, the button has a wire that runs to the relay. This triggers the coil in the relay and pulls the contacts in. You have three wires that run to the relay for the starter. One hot wire, a trigger wire from the starter button and a wire from the relay to the solenoid. When you press the button, the relay pulls in and makes the wire going to the solenoid "Hot".

The solenoid has three wires going to it. The large battery cable goes to the "long post" of the solenoid, There's another battery cable going to the starter from the bottom of the solenoid, The wire from the starter relay goes to the small terminal of the solenoid. The small wire from the starter relay is the trigger wire for the starter solenoid. When this wire goes hot, it magnetizes the solenoid and pulls the plunger inward. The plunger bridges two large contacts in the solenoid to put high current voltage to the starter.

If you need a schematic, contact me directly at [email protected]. I cannot send a file via this medium but I can direct e-mail. Remind me of what you need when you contact me.

Good Luck

Is there a relay for starter on a 2001 ford ranger it has not run in 5 years and I cannot get power to starter.

I don't know but there is likely to be a passive anti-theft system and that might prevent starter operation if it isn't disarmed.

I suggest you obtain a wiring diagram to check for this and the presence of a starter relay.

Do my gmc g2500 have starter fuse

I don't know model year? I looked at 96. You have a starter relay, there is a fuse that supplies voltage to load side of starter relay.
I didn't post diagram because I wasn't sure of model year? I don't know if the wiring diagrams are all the same on this vehicle starter circuit?

Can I get the installation wiring diagram for remote starter viper where can this be found

1998 Cherokee?
wow , old bendix starters ,they are long long gone, (done many)
a blast from the past. LOL
so is this an after market hacked in Remote?>
sure.
well buy a new system and read the instructions.
if using an old system , get the instructions online, at makers web site, we can not guess makers, of anything aftermarket.

it hangs up the starter solenoid, , and is very dangerous to you , like that. sure.
my guess is the control (in car) is bad, shorted relay in box or transistor that drives the small wire to the starter, or to cars starter relay .

the starter relay is in the USA PDC fuse box.
all answers USA , not export jeeps, this is a USA forum (calif)

What wires are hooked up to left & right posts going to & from starter rely on 1987 f250 4wd straight six

You don't need a diagram. The batt Pos goes to one side and that is also the power side for various other tasks. The second heavy stud goes to the starter. You just have the smaller supply cables on the wrong stud.

Won' start, starter relay clicks but nothing happens.

Look at the end of the starter from the right side of the bike. There is a pentagon shaped (5 sided) plate on the end of the starter solenoid. Just above this plate that is a singe wire that plugs into the starter. Unplug this wire and stick the probe of a volt meter or a test light in the wire end of the connector. When you press the starter button, you should hear the starter relay click and you should show batttery voltage at this connector. If you do NOT show and voltage at that wire, replace the relay. If you DO show voltage, your problem is in the starter.

Good Luck
