I have a Maytag Performa PYE2200AYW Electric Dryer that recently had a new motor installed. The drum turns until I put clothes in it, and then it slows and stops. What is the most likely cause? I spoke to a few people and one guy said that it sounded like the motor was bad, but I ruled that out because it was supposed to be brand new.
You have the belt on wrong. There is a side with numbers or writing on it and ribbed side like treads. The tread side should be facing down, making contact with the drum. If the other side is touching the drum then whenever clothes are put in the belt will slip causing the drum not to

SOURCE: new belt but drum still won't turn
make sure that he put the tensioner on the right way with the spring it will make the belt really tight !This is sometimes hard to do because the spring will bite you if your not careful !!

remove the front panel. you may need to remove a kick panel below the front panel. the top panel connects to the front panel by some plastic push in retainers (you can loosen them with a screwdriver) You need to prop the top panel up. the belt goes over the top of the drum down to a drive wheel that is located at the bottom of the dryer.

I have a ALE643RB Amana dryer and believe the heating element has went out because the dryer will not heat anymore. I have taken the control panel off the top and all the screws out on the back and the bottom edge, but am still not able to get the shell off the dryer. How do you get to the heating element?
SOURCE: MAYTAG PERFORMA ELECTRIC DRYER SQUEEKS BADLY WHEN
If the metal-on-metal squeak is coming from the front of the machine, you need to replace the glides. These are plastic pads that support the front of the drum around the door. The rim of the drum slides over them, and they eventually wear through.
SOURCE: Maytag Performa Electric dryer timer is bad
Look up an appliance parts store in your area. If there is no appliance store, try www.searspartsdirect.com.
If it does not turn off during timed dry then it for sure has gone bad. If it takes a while on timed dry then it is most likely that your thermal fuse/ valve coils are going bad.
