Dodgy if by that you mean sticks or is hard to move then it probably needs cleaned you can take it apart or if you have a warrenty take it to where you purchased it and have them clean it, or it could be the connections on the keypad board but eitherway it sounds like its not getting good connection.

There might be the problem with the joystick of ur hndset..so get it either repaired or replaced from sony errc. service centre.

cheak the continuty on trakes between 1-2 teminal of joystick
and key pad ic if ok reball keypad ic not ok then you have to replace ic.
