SOURCE: Kenmore ice maker

If the ice ejector (the plastic part) is pointed down and not pointed between 10 and 3 o' clock the ice maker motor has failed or somethin is binding. Replacing the ice maker is probably the best bet.

SOURCE: no water to ice maker

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

SOURCE: ICE CUBE MAKER SMELLY ICE CUBES

    Hello margrek
    Welcome,

YOU SAID, YOU HAVE KENMORE ELITE BOTTOM FREEZER WITH ICE MAKER THE ICE CUBES SMELL HORRIBLE ALWAYS, I EVEN TOSS THEM OUT EVERY FEW DAYS, STILL SAME PROBLEM

Ice has bad odor and taste.

1• Ice has picked up odor or
    flavor from strong food stored
    in refrigerator or freezer.
2• Water running to ice maker
    has poor taste or odor.
3• Ice not used frequently enough.
4• Cover foods tightly. Discard stale ice. Ice maker will
    produce fresh supply.
5• Add filter to water supply line. Consult a water purifying
    company.
    7• Discard stale ice.

SOURCE: Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen

Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.

SOURCE: No ice from icemaker of Kenmore Elite model 106

I just resolved an issue with my kenmore elite side by side refrigerator icemaker (model 106).
It was expensive because I took the long road to fixing the unit myself.

My problem: No water going up to the freezer water dispenser into the icemaker but the water in front of the door working just fine.

-first thing i tried was the simplest. The Internet is clogged with this miracle fix of using a hair dryer to melt the frozen water line going to the dispenser output. This is highly unlikely for our model since the water line is protected within the refrigerator frame.

-2nd thing I replaced my water filter (thinking that there wasn't enough water pressure to trigger the solenoid valve. $40, and still no luck.

-3rd thing was I tested for voltage going to the solenoid. No voltage going to solenoid, so I wasted $30 for a new solenoid.....still no water.

-4th thing was I ordered a new IR sensor and receiver (since the reciever end is where the relay that sends the voltage to the solenoid to turn on and allow water to go up to the dispenser).
My IR sender and receiver appeared to be working flakey.
Installed, still no water. $58 BUCKS ON EBAY (EVERYWHERE ELSE $100+)

-I finally removed the freezer front little white door, I TURNED OFF THE FREEZER SWITCH SO NO VOLTAGE WAS PRESENT, removed the release latch underneath the freezer unit and disconnected, and removed the freezer unit to inspect it further.
When I removed the protective white cover that covers the mechanical wheel, I had a few parts come flying out of it. Turns out that the wheel accessories were damaged. THERE ARE NO REPAIRABLE PARTS ON THE FREEZER UNIT. I FOUND ONE ON EBAY FOR $39 BUCKS + $9 SHIPPING! $48 BUCKS, SWAPPED THE HARNESS AND BOTTOM COVER, AND IN 20 MINUTES, I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS. STARTED MAKING ICE IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR!!!!!

when in doubt, replace the freezer unit for $48 bucks! 7 out of 10 times it will fix your problems. All techs replace the IR set at the same time too which will set you back another $58 bucks.
    Good luck! ;)

Kenmore elite bottom freezer. Isn't making ice and the water dispenser that is in the fridge is pouring warm water not cold. Any suggestions on how to fix?

What is the temperatures inside the fresh food section? Is the freezer is beginning to get a layer of frost buildup on the rear wall? If yes a layer of frost is building on that rear panel then we need to look into three main parts because what you described is possibly due to a defrost problem causing temperatures to rise because a large area of frost is blocking air circulation behind the rear panel inside freezer. Ice maker will not fill with water.

You mean " Why The Water Doesn't Fill the Tray in Kenmore Ice Maker?"
Am i right to your question? Well, Kenmore brand refrigerators often have an ice maker that uses the water supply to create ice inside the freezer compartment. Some models have an ice dispenser on the freezer door for easy access, and others simply create ice and deposit it into a tray inside the freezer. While most ice makers should work well with basic maintenance and care, issues may occasionally arise. One such problem is if the water does not fill the tray to create ice inside the ice maker. Resolving this issue may be possible through some troubleshooting efforts.

1 Remove the ice bin from the freezer.

2 Fill a turkey baster with hot water.

3 Spray hot water from the turkey baster into the tube at the back of the ice maker, which may be frozen or clogged.

4 Repeat spraying water into the tube until the blockage or frost is removed.

5 Replace the ice bin into the unit.
Please let me know if this help you.

Water is leaking under the refrigerator. This is

If everything else on the refrigerator seems fine (freezing and refrigerating are fine), then you probably have a problem with the drain hose under the evaporator coil. On frost free freezers, there is a heater that comes on periodically to melt off all the frost on the evaporator coil, and that defrosted frost (water) goes out a drain hose and collects in a pan at the back of the unit where it can evaporate.

Either the drain is clogged with ice inside the freezer, (in which case you might notice ice building up on the bottom of the freezer, or perhaps water collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator if your freezer is on top) OR there is something wrong with the pan at the back of the refrigerator, like a crack, or it somehow got tilted so that the water pours out. It is located behind the panel on the back.

Or perhaps, and this would really ****, the water line that supplies your ice maker is leaking, if you have one. If you do have one, I would recommend turning the water line to the fridge off before pulling the fridge out.

    Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

    Water leaking into freezer

It may be the defrost thermostat. This thermostat turns on a heater in the freezer a couple of times a day and melts the ice in the freezer which should go into a tube that leads to a pan underneath the refrigerator, where it sits and evaporates from the heat of the compressor. It could also be the timer which tells the refrigeator to turn off a couple of times a day and tells the defrost thermostat to turn on.

Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

during periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.
