SOURCE: How to connect power led ,HDD,Reset, power SW cables in hp motherboard s/n 383620-001

check your motherboard manual if you do not have it go to www.support.hp.com and look for manuals based on the model. this should give you detailed instructions as to which pins you plug those cables into. usually they are located towards the bottom of the motherboard to the right of your PCI Expansion slots

Transferring motherboard from Gateway SX2801-07E to another case. How do I connect the motherboard front panel headers?

  1. Identify the headers: Locate the front panel headers on the new case and on the motherboard. Make sure that you have identified the correct headers and that they are compatible with each other.
  2. Check the pinout: Refer to the manual for the new case to determine the pinout for the front panel headers. Make sure that it matches the pinout listed for the motherboard, as mentioned above.
  3. Connect the wires: Use the pinout information to connect the wires from the new case to the appropriate pins on the motherboard. Make sure that each wire is securely connected and that there are no loose wires that could cause a short circuit.
  4. Connect the HDD LED: The HDD LED can be connected to pins 13 and 14 of the front header (LEDH1).
  5. Connect the power LED: The power LED can be connected to pins 3 and 4 of the front header (LEDH1).
  6. Connect the reset switch: The reset switch can be connected to pins 7 and 8 of the front header (LEDH1).
  7. Connect the power switch: The power switch can be connected to pins 10 and 11 of the front header (LEDH1).
Make sure that you connect the wires correctly and securely, as an incorrect connection can cause damage to the motherboard or the front panel components.

Replaced smoked RaidmaxKY-520ATX power supply. Replacement power supply does not turn on. Which wires are remote power up from mother board ?

You can actually test the power supply before connecting it to the motherboard. Take a look at the power supply pinout by CLICKING HERE. Jump pin 14 with 13, 15, 16, or 17 to turn it on. You will have to get a manual for your motherboard to see how the front panel connector is configured with your case power switch. If you have that manual you can jump the 2 connector pins for the power switch to test the p/s from the motherboard.

I've got an Comp with a msi n1996 motherboard. but the cables are hanging lose. now I'm searching for a lay-out how / where to connect the cables (power sw, hdd led, etc)

There should be some white writing on the motherboard at the bottom right labeling where the cables plug in. The motherboard manufacturer should also have a manual showing the pinouts on the motherboard.

if that does not help try

I want to upgrade the motherboard in my Sony VAIO VGC-RC110G PC Desktop. Is this possible or does sony use a nonstandard configured motherboard?

Hi:
I have only worked on one of these Sony desktops, and it is really very proprietary, where you would be better off buying a new case to install a new motherboard in. The sony looks really slick, but everything about it is odd: The power supply, the cooling fan for the cpu, etc. It would be a lot easier to save what you can and move it to a new project!

I got a gigabyte motherboard, when i hook it up the only thing that comes on is the fan itself, the hard drive dont light up and neither does the dvd rom....now i bought two brand new processors for it, i...

Sounds like the first thing you need to check is if you are getting all the voltages out of your power supply.

Here is a link to the pinouts of the connectors. if you have a faulty PS replacing the CPU or motherboard will not help.

http://www.helpwithpcs.com/courses/power-supply-basics-inc-pinouts.htm

Is there a green LED on your motherboard at all?

You said the fan comes on. Which fan? You should have a CPU fan, a case fan, and a power supply fan.

Hp pavilion 764c wire diagrams

Take a picture of the inside of your computer and put it up on the website with the wire connectors that need to be connected. The connecting wires should be in four groups. 1. The power supply connectors. These connectors will supply power to to all the power using components not supplied power by the motherboard itself. 2 The connections to the other components in your system like the dvd/cd player and the harddrive and floppy drive.3. The motherboard connections for the case. The power switch connector andreset switchconnector. The power led and theharddrive activity light. The USB connector and the audio connector. The fan connections like the cpu fan and other fan only connectors found on the motherboard. The external fans ( Fans that need to be connected to the power supply). Most of these connections are labeled on the motherboard. The case connectors also should be labeled for the correct connection. The best way to find the answers to this hook-up, may be to call HP pavilion with your computer make and model number, motherboard model number including revisions number. Computer made by big manufacturers tend to have may revisions and the only way to make sure your are getting a correct hook-up to the motherboard is call them for assistance.Especially if the motherboard and case labels are not present or so small that they cannot be read.Hope this helps you with your problem.
