Lawn-Boy 20" mower stalls when hot and blade clutch engaged

This is actually the 1060*, I think. It has a Kohler engine. My Lawn-Boy mower was recently purchased used. It looks to be in great shape. It ran perfectly the first two times I mowed my lawn (about 1/2 acre) Today, when I was mowing my lawn for the 3rd time with this mower, the mower began running rough. When I stopped it to empty my clippings I turned it off completely. It restarted easily, but when I tried to engage the blade it stalled. It did this multiple times. Then I let it cool for 1/2 hour. When I came back to it, it ran fine for about 10 minutes then it started running rough and stalling when the blade was engaged. If the blade wasn't engaged it would idle fine. Any thoughts to try would be very appreciated.

It has fresh gas, correct oil type and level. It runs great until it gets hot. Then, it still runs great but stalls as soon as I try to engage the blade.

SOURCE: Lawn mower will not start.

It likely needs a carb rebuild. Be sure to check your tank for water in the fuel as well.
BTW lawn boy carbs appear to be the simplest carb ever but are very touchy ( especially with leaking inlet needles) so dont underestimate them and you will be fine.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Masport 635 Lawn mower, I think it is

If it is two stroke it must have oil mixed in with it. Try pulling the cord and notice if there is any compression if not then it is the pistion and if it doesn't turn then it is seized with lack of oil.Now if it is four stroke take the plug out put it to the head and pull the cord to see if there is any spark if there is it's a fuel problem.

Stalls When engaging the blade clutch

Check that the blade brake is disengaging. Slip belt off blade spindles and check that they spin freely. Check underside of deck for clogged grass, ropes, wire, etc.

Craftsman dlt2000 20 hp kohler runs great until i try to engage blades pull up on the switch to engage and motor bogs and stalls

Now is a great time to remove the deck and sharpen the blades! In the process, you will find your problem. Look for clogs, seized bearings, freely rotating belts, etc... The problem is in the deck or drive belt. Hope this helps!

Started craftsman lawn tractor 24 hp kohler engine drove it a few feet engaged blade clutch and mower stopped. disengaged blade clutch tried to restart . engine turns over starts runs few a few seconds and...

You should be able to push it forwards as well as backwards. I had a similar problem (engine stalling) with mine. I found out if I half choke it, it will stay running. Transmission may still have a problem.

My lawn mower will start easily and continue running as long as the clutch brake is depressed but when I lift the clutch or try to engage the blades while the clutch is depressed the mower will stall.

This is a shot in the dark. I think you have a failed "operator presence safety switch". Rule this out by finding the switch and jumping it.

Your mower should run with no one in the seat IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS SET.

If the brake is released and no one is on it, it should shut off.

If you are on it and the brake is released you should be able to engage the blades (probably an electric clutch)

Purpose of this interlock is the shut the machine OFF should you fall off or jump off the machine. Do not disable this valuable safety feature.

Let me know what you find.

Engine stalls when electric PTO clutch is engaged

check your spacers to be sure you havent locked the clutch assembly directly to the motor shaft
you should be able to turn it fairly free less some clutch drag

I have 16 hp Craftsman riding mower with a Kohler engine.

It may think you are in reverse and is killing the motor to keep you from backing up with the blade running. Look for switch that is telling it when you are in reverse, maybe it is stuck with grass or other debris. another possibility is that the blades are jammed and they are stalliing the motor. Mines stalls easily when cold.
