How do i enter service mode on a canon mf4570dn so that i can view print count and clear fax memory?

I used to have a canon mf4350d and if I pressed menu # it would enter service mode where I could view and reset "counts" and stored memory. I need to know how to on my canon MF4570dn. I send tons of faxes daily on mortgages and it eats memory. Any solution would be appreciated, canon suggested unplugging it that is there anwer to reset the stored memory.

SOURCE: Call Customer Service 1-8O5-465-751O To Fix Issue canon mx700 fax report problems

after emailing canon support, the answer is this: 1) the fax paper size must be "letter" - 8.5-11". 2) reset all settings through settings menu. the fax will then print reports (and also every report that was not printed before).

SOURCE: can not clear memory in my canon MX850

First thing I would try is to reset the device by turning the device off, and waiting a full 20 seconds, then attempting to restart the printer, wait for it to do its full boot up cycle and then try again, if that doesn't work I might e-mail, or call Canon.

Hope this helps,

My fax machine will send a fax, but I can't receive a fax?

The fax machine may be in secure receiving mode. The following is from the User's Manual section on Faxing. downloadcenter samsung com

Receiving in secure receiving mode

You may need to prevent your received faxes from being accessed by unauthorized people. You can turn on secure receiving mode to restrict printing of received faxes when the machine is unattended. In secure receiving mode, all incoming faxes go into memory. When the mode is deactivated, any stored faxes are printed.

Activating secure receiving mode

  1. Press btn_fax.png(Fax) on the control panel.

  2. Press Menu until Advanced Fax appear.

  3. Press the left/right arrow until Secure Receive appear and press OK.

  4. Press the left/right arrow until On appear and press OK.

  5. Enter a four-digit password you want to use and press OK.
    note.png

You can activate secure receiving mode without setting a password, but cannot protect your faxes.

  6. Re-enter the password to confirm it and press OK.

  7. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode.

When a fax is received in secure receiving mode, your machine stores it in memory and shows Secure Receive to let you know that there is a fax received.
Printing received faxes

  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Print appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The machine prints all of the faxes stored in memory.

Deactivating secure receiving mode
  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Off appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The mode is deactivated and the machine prints all faxes stored in memory.

  4. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode."

0085 error

Wow this is a great error. Cant say in 20 years of working on canon kit that this error has ever appeared. I will not write what the manual says as it wont mean a thing to you. basically the transmitting machine (yours) is sending a signal during the handshake and it expects the correct answer but the receiving machine is sending back a signal that is not expected.
Now, why is the question. I would have thought that there is an incompatability between the two machines but that is rare nowadays. I feel that we should erase your machines memory and program it up from scratch. to enter the service mode press additional functions and #. This is now the service mode, scroll down to data clear, press enter, press memory clear and enter. come out and go back into service mode. the first option is country code, scroll down to your country and enter that.
Hopefully that will have cured it. If not repost telling me if this happens on all outgoing faxes or incoming and if just to one machine what make and model it is. Also tell me where in the world you are. All that helps diagnose your problem.

Good luck
Paul.

But if you want to clear all machines memory, enter the service mode ( MENU and # ) select Clear and ALL.
After these you need to reenter fax settings, such as fax number, sender name, ring count,...

Hope that helps!

Fax received goes directly into memory of the machine my mchine is samsung SCX 4521F

Good day Sir,
If you don't want other people to view your received documents, you can use Secure Receiving mode. In this mode, all of the received faxes are stored in the memory.
To turn Secure Receiving mode OFF:
  1. Press menu until "Advance Fax" appears on the top line of the display.
  2. Press the scroll button < or > until "Secure Receive" appears on the button line and press Enter.
  3. Press the scroll button < or > to display 'Off" on the bottom line and press Enter.
  4. Enter the 4-digit password and press Enter.
The mode is deactivated and the machine prints all faxes stored in memory.

5. To return to standby mode, press Stop/Clear.

Have a nice Day and God bless.
