Your question is quite vague

here is the manual to your router:
ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNDR3400_SM_23MAR2010.pdf

page 44: "You can restore the factory default configuration settings that reset the router's user name to admin, the password to password, and the IP address to 192.168.1.1."

that aught a do ya

Red light on modem's internet

I think incorrect physical connection between your router device and the PC.Because cable modem status light should be solid green.it indicates that your ADSL/cable modem has a good connection.

Recheck and correct the Ethernet connection between your PC and the router device.

How to setup router name & router password

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Hi,

Subject: No wireless connection from router cannot connect to the Internet.
Solutions: Straight Connection, Windows Connecter and Microsoft Fixit

Discussion: I'm going to provide you with three solutions and between them you should get online. However, you should be advised that in order to fully analyze and correct any difficulties you're having, we should be chatting or on a telephone connection. All I really know at this point is that you can't connect to the Internet through your router.

I'm going to give you three FREE general fixes and let's hope that one of them will work for you. If not, then we have to chat.

Now, let's see if I can help you.

The first solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.

Begin by turning on your computer and your router

? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this.
? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database.
? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: [email protected].
? Open Internet Explorer;
? Click on 'Tools';
? Click on 'Internet Options';
? Click on 'Connections';
? Click on 'Setup'
? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN);
? Clock on 'Next'
? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error];
? Click on 'No';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and,
? Click on 'Finish'.

That should have you online.

However, if the first solution doesn't get you connected, do the following:
• Click on tools again.
• Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems'
• and follow the instructions.

The second suggested solution is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might have more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:

The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.

Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:

• Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button
• Click on Control Panel.
• In the search box, type network,
• Click "Network and Sharing Center"
• Click Set up a new connection or network
• Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

The third solution requires an Internet connection. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft called Microsoft Fixit! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Just click on the following link and your problem should be solved: Download Microsoft's Fixit

You'll see the following areas in which Microsoft Fixit can solve software , hardware and just about every other problem you may incur. They are:

Top Solutions Windows Internet Explorer Windows Media Player

Entertainment Office Other

I suggest that you try top solutions and 'automatic' before exploring the other titles.

Be a hero and fix your friends' computers; just don't tell them how you did it! That will be our little secret.

All the best

How to connect my Linksys router with my wi tribe modem?? my laptop pick up the wireless signal and can connect,,it says "connected" but when you open a page it says either "invalid server...

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

I do not remember my Admistrative password & while connecting my other devices like I pod, I am unable to do so. Pls suggest what to do

If you have not changed your router's default admistrative settings, fire up a web browser on a PC connected to it, go to 'http://192.168.1.1', and, when prompted to fill in your credentials, leave the 'User name' field blank, and enter 'admin' as 'Pasword' field.
Hope it works for you.
By the way, if you router's user guide happens to be missing, feel free to downlaod it from this location.
Anyway, please, let me know if I can help you out any further.
Regards, Carlos

Bought a d514-4 port,router @ a yard sale with no CD

There's no need for any CD-ROM.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the WAN port on the router.

Use another Ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the 4 'LAN' ports on the router.

Restart your computer.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: Default Gateway .... 123.456.1.1
Start Internet Explorer
Type http://123.456.1.1
Press Enter
Login to the router's web-site (try 'admin' & "blank"; try 'admin' & 'admin'; try "blank" & 'admin')
Run the router's "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard" to configure the wireless adapter.
Done.

I have problem setting up my wireless network and redirecting my wireless client to my local webpages before they can access to internet.   see this diagram below :...

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.
