Hey everyone. My digitizer stopped working so i ordered a new 1 of eBay and did the long tricky bit of installing it. now the screen comes on and everything but it is still not responding properly. if i keep trying to slide the unlock slider many times, sometimes it eventually works, and when i get into my iPhone i can do stuff but the response level is awful, sometimes doing what it wants (a strange type of lag) and forget about typing the closest thing to "hello" i could write was "heo" and that was with a lot of effort, i realize that sometimes the bottom half on iPhones stop working but overall i tested it and all corners seem to respond to touch (eventually/when and if it wants to). if it changes anything, this was the issue i had to begin with (before replacing digitizer) but i think it was a little worse... i'm no super noob when it comes to electronics, fixed many iPods, PCs, electronics etc.... so i dont think it was a case of me being a fat figerd drunk n blind giant. mega desperate. if you know anything please chuck me some advice. The digitizer is damaged on your iPhone. Since it is a 2G I would advise against repairing this unit because on the 2G model you cannot replace only the Digitizer. Instead you have to purchase the LCD, the Digitizer, and the glass panel. All in all this totals up to over $100 in parts even if you buy off of eBay.
Don't get suckered into buying only the digitizer because it won't fix your issue because the Digitizer is glued to the LCD and the glass panel.
Your best bet is to sell the unit AS IS for parts or repair on eBay or Craigslist. Alternatively I can offer to buy the unit from you as I have the parts and knowledge to complete this repair and much less than it would cost you to do it yourself.

Hold both the home and power button together for 10 seconds, it should at least give you an apple, if nothing then your iphone is gonna need some work...

Yes, most definitely it is the digitizer. The iPhone display consists of 3 parts. The outer glass that your finger actually touches, the LCD screen that brings you the picture and the digitizer that senses your touch. You can purchase a new digitizer at several Ebay stores for under $15. I would only recommend letting someone perform this repair if they have done it before. It's not very difficult, however there are very delicate ribbon cables that can be broken if it is pulled apart too quickly. I hope this helps you!
