Fridge fan not working - Maytag MFD2561HE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

Take the cover off the fridge fan and put a flash light in there and a camera set to record. close the door for a couple of minutes and then look at the footage to see if the fan is running. The circulation fan should run all the time.

Check first input power supply of fan if its OK then problems can possible in the fan motor . you can check pre fuse by a tester with continuity method

When the fridge stops working, can you hear the fan operating inside the unit? It sounds like you have a failing evaporator fan motor. This fan motor circulated cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator.

Most will tell you the freon is bad. but i have found in most cases the freezer works but fridge doesnt.. I have found the solution to be a bad cooling fan on the fridge it self. if the fan is not cooling the fridge will not cool. You could pull the fridge out and see if you can see the fan turn it on hi and when the fridge kicks in see if the fan or fans are working.. dust can cause them to slow or stop.

I would replace the fan or fan switch if it has one

the fridge gets its cold air from the freezer fan blowing it through small air passages between the freezer and fridge. when you adjust the temperature in the fridge you are increasing/decreasing the amount of air being let into the fridge. Two common problems that could cause the freezer to freeze but not the fridge getting cool is the freezer coil is frooze like a ice cube blocking the air going to the fridge or freezer fan is not working could be bad or froze up due to too much ice. If fan works after manually defrosting problem could be in the auto defrost mechanism. If fan don't work after manual defrost replace fan. Manual defrost by putting a pot of very hot water in freezer with door closed change water foten until defrosted.

Seems to be a common problem. Same problem with our fridge. (10 minutes to fix = apprx. $200) One of the wires for the fan breaks. I suspect F&P know about this and I suspect are making a lot of money in repairs

The bearings may have gone out in the fan. Try to find an old fridge and swap out the fans.

May be ice build up - happened with mine. Had to defrost completely (unplug for 24+ hours) then it worked fine on restarting.

if the fan is noisey, replace the fan.
