unplug it see if starts if yes then jump the wire most seat safties just unplug it tape the wire ends so they dont ground if is the other way tape the wrires together
when you turn off the key you are breaking the power circuit to the coil. If it keeps running then the coil is still getting power. Check for a wire touching the power wire before the switch that runs to the coil
I dont have all your anwers. In my experience, Kohler frequently has wires to start, run and stop the engine. They also frequently have a low oil and/or high heat control (engine shut down). Also expect a wire from the charging system. On your tractor, you probably have similar plus 'operator presence' wires. These wires require to you to be sitting in the seat for the machine to operate - a seat switch for example. On my tractor, I can depress the 'brake' (which isnt exactly a brake in fact) and the engine will run when I dismount. However, if the mower is engaged, no matter what, if I get off the tractor, the engine shuts down.
You will have to determine what every wire is for and connect it properly. You may lose some engine 'functionality' or tractor safety features. It is never easy to put a Ford starter on a Chevy. Good luck with your project.
check the fuse then see if theres power to the clutch is there a bad safety switch does the mower shut off if you get off the seat when the blades are turned on(that will test one of the safety switches)
It is possible, but does the engine crank at all? If the engine doesn't crank at all it is a switch, and can be either the seat switch or the brake switch. If it cranks over but will not start it can be either fuel or spark issue. The easiest way to check for the seat switch is to unplug the switch and insert a jumper wire between the terminals on the harness end of the plug. The seat switch is just a continuity switch so it can be easily bypassed. The brake switch however isnt as easy to test. Start with the seat switch and let me know how it goes, Daniel.
Most all riders have a safety seat switch now and they do malfuction alot. They are under the seat and are ez to replace most of the time. First look for a wire that is grounding due to rubbing a sharp object. That can be fixed with black tape
There is a safety switch in the seat that shuts the mower off if there is no rider. The mower stays running when the rider gets up ONLY if the brake is set.
The switch under your seat is broken and cannot sense that a rider is on the seat. Therefore, the engine can only run when the brake is set.
Depending on the mower, the two wires need to be connected (or disconnected) when a rider is in place. I do't know what mode your mower needs but it shouldn't take long for you to figure it out.. The safest thing is to confirm the seat switch is the issue then change the seat if replacements are available.
Good luck

Sounds like a bad safety switch and since it is caused by both the blade and the transmission, I would check the seat switch. You can temporarily bypass it using a short jumper wire on the harness plug, unplug it from the seat switch, put the jumper wire across both contacts in the plug and see if it solves your problem. If it does, replace the switch
Try putting a jumper wire on the wire going from the engine to the seat. Take that plug and put a wire from one side to the other. Be careful not to cut your feet off when engaging deck.
