I have a Kenmore 54501 dehumidifier that will run for days and not collect water. When I got it new, about two years ago, it did fine. The fan is OK and I cleaned the filter. Still no water. It is in the 12'X 18' basement room and has worked fine until recently. Any suggestions? Thanks, Paul
My unit does not collect water any more. It was fine until I lent it to my brother in law and it was returned damaged. Do you know how to fix this
My dehumidifer used to work great until it did not turn off when the bucket was full and overflowed on my hardwood floors. Yes I know have warped floors that I am trying to get Haier (manufacturer) to pay for. I still turn it on but not all day and night like I use to. It also seems to not collect near the amount of water it use to. I live in GA and it is very humid here in the Summer. Has anyone else had a problem with the product Haier from HH Gregg?
May I ask what time of the year you are using your dehums?
I had the same problem. I just narrowed it down to the humidistat by wrapping it in a baby wipe. It runs smooth now and fills the bucket....I'm off now looking for a replacement.
I have the same problem with my 2 year old kenmore dehumidifier. It was working fine until I cleaned the air filter and now there is no water collecting in the bucket even though the unit keeps running all the time. I used to have to dump the bucket once every two days.
Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

I've now had the same problem with 2 of these Kenmore dehumidifiers! When the first one quite collecting water (but the fan worked), it was just under one year old so we took it back to Sears who said the compressor was bad - and two months later they replaced the whole unit with a new one. Now, less than 4 months later, our replacement had quit collecting water (but the fan runs)! Grrr what a waste of money! We will take it back and see what they say. We use our dehumidifier in a heated bedroom - we live in the trees in the NW temperate rainforest and without the dehumidifier we have a RH of 65%.
I have had the same problem, after a few years it just stopped collecting. I cleaned the filter to no avail.
I had the same problem where it stopped working 6 months after purchase.
I ahve a Kenmore dehumidifer from Sears that after using it for 2 years it stops collecting water. It also has become very noisey. I thew it out that it wher it belongs anyway and bought a Delonghi. It is digital and it indicate the percentage of humidity in the room. Delonghi is the way to go.
I have the same problem. The unit runs and runs and no water. I have two units with the same model. One unit works perfectly. Is there an answer to the problem?
My dehumidifier started making a strange noise a few weeks ago and I cleaned the filter. It seemed to work fine after that. This past week though it has been running and not collecting water. It is in the basement and it's very humid down there now. the unit is about 2 years old. What do you think the problem is?
I had the same problem (almost 3 yrs old, ran normally but did not collect any water) - took it to Sears Repair facility - it was low/out of refrigerant - sealed refrigeration system has a 5-year warranty so it was repaired free (took about 1 week) - now works fine
My dehumidifier was very very noisy (rattling) and was not collecting water. I did'nt realize that it had an air filter in the front. The filter had caked on dust so no air was going though it. After I cleaned the filter it stopped rattling and started collecting water again.
My 70 pint Kenmore is making an awful sound at start up.
They bring the humidity down over a few weeks till they aren't needed. Take a humidity reading.
