The fridge is not getting cold, the freezer is working fine, but has some frost in it. My food has been spoiling after a few days. How do I fix it myself, without having to spend money on a repair service? I cleared all the dust and debris from the back of the fridge of already. Please help!
Just had the same problem with my side-by-side.
In my case, the solution was to empty the freezer side, to access a back panel INSIDE the freezer covering the fan and cooling coils. Two screws held the back panel cover on, and when I removed the panel cover I found the cooling coils to be totally iced up, preventing the flow of cold air into the fridge side. I left the freezer open for a few hours until all the ice was melted, before replacing the inside panel. (I used a blow dryer to help speed up the ice melting).
Everything's working fine now for me - good luck with yours!

On further thought, if you don't feel comfortable in removing parts from the unit, you could simply turn it off, empty everything out, and leave the doors open to thaw for a while - probably will take 4-8 hours to melt all the ice built up inside the walls where you can't see it. The melted ice water will flow down to the tray under the fridge where it normally evaporates when the unit is running.

Fridge used to be much too cold and collect water while freezer stayed clear, now fridge is too warm and freezer collects frost. I found that the return air ducts to the freezer were frozen up, so I cleared them out.
