Whirlpool side by side refrigerator not defrosting.

Whirlpool S25B RWW20-A/G. This is (was) a self defrosting fridge/freezer.(5 years old) Inside freezer the rear walls are frosting over the vents in centre of Freezer causing audible alarm and freezer display showing -- where the temperature use to show. I can hear the fan unit sounding as if it is working inside Freezer, I powered down and defrosted overnight. All ok for 3 days, again Freezer back wall frosted over the vents at centre of Freezer so again I powered down and defrosted overnight, all ok for 4 days but againFreezer back wall frosted over the vents at centre of Freezer. Any suggestions, cheers

My whirlpool fridge is not working, the freezer is working, I can't understand it. The thermostat inside the fridge seems to be okay, inside the fridge is not even cold. Can you help me. My fridge...

Your cooling comes from the freezer side through cooling tubes to the refrigerator side.

The first thing is to make sure that the evaporator fan is working, because that will blow the cold air into the refrigerator side. If it is working then you probably have an ice build up around the evaporator. You will need to remove the inner rear panel of the freezer to check it.

If there is a lot of ice on the evaporator fins then your defrost circuit is not working. But if you manually defrost the freezer (a hair dryer will speed it up) and make sure the cooling tubes are clean of ice (can feel the air from the hair dryer on refrigerator side) then you will have anywhere from a few days to a few weeks before the ice build up returns.

So you should troubleshoot your defrost circuit and get the parts on order to be ready for the next time.

Whirlpool side by side Fridge Freezer S20BRBB20

Your fridge is simply not defrosting itself or moving air off the freezer coil. Try defrosting it and make sure the fan is operating. If the brains have been replaced already i do not think you should have to deal with them again unless consumer reports suggest otherwise.

The things in the freezer are not frozen and there is ice in the milk in the refrigerator. It a 6 year old Whirlpool side by side.

You possibly have a 2 part problem. Do a 12 defrost and make sure the product in the fridge is not near the auger (cold inlet vent into the fridge). Fridge gets its frost from the freezer compartment.

Fridge and freezer not working .very weak. only 5 years old

First I want you to unplug the refrigerator and open the control panel inside the fresh food compartment. Inside there is a part called a defrost timer but its electronic. Part number 4388932
This is most likely your problem with the refrigerator. Its not defrosting. When you are working and power is unplugged I want you to check the defrost heater and have a look at the defrost thermostat inside the back wall of the freezer. Take one wire off the end of one side of the defrost element and check to see if there is continuity. The defrost thermostat could also be a problem but when the temperature in the back of freezer reaches 50 degrees the defrost thermostat will have the contacts open. That is normal at that temp. When not normal is when its freezing and the contacts are open. That will cause the freezer to miss defrost. Check these things, check for burn marks on the defrost control board and let me know what you find. Why this post is so late I will never know. Sorry I just noticed the date. Maybe this will help someone..Sea Breeze

DEFROSTING/ WATER RUNNING ONTO FLOOR & INSIDE FRIDGE

Check to see if the run-off tube at the back is plugged.

I dont know how old the fridge is - but if it a couple years old check at the back or the fridge - there should be a tube running down the back of the fridge down into the bottom tray. This tube funnels water from the freezer (condensation, or water from the defrost) down onto the tray holding the compressor where it evaporates with help from the heat off the compressor. Sometimes this tube can get plugged up with some scum or mineral deposits, causing the built up water to drain from inside the fridge.

The tube shouldn't be too hard to remove and clean out with some hot water and pipe cleaners. Had the same issue on on a GE fridge last year.
Hope this helps!
