Drain is Clear. And have done all the rest. I believe its a defrost problem. Worked perfectly after i replaced the Thermistor but only for about a month. Now the refrigerator is at 55 degrees.

Nah. I was just wondering if there was two reversing valves. Does the freezer and refrigerator defrost with the same system at the same time? The freezer is defrosting okay. Im thinking its the control board possibly

Is it freezing from the bottom up? If so check the drain is clear. If it's freezing all over, check the condenser is clean and clear and the compressor switches off when it reaches temperature. Lastly, check the door seals properly all the way round

Can you put it into a manual defrost? If you can, see if the evaporator gets warm enough to get rid of the frost build up. I'm assuming it's an electric defrost, not hot gas?

  • mike cooper Apr 24, 2012

Does it fully defrost when it defrosts, including getting rid of all it's condensate down the drain? Can you extend the defrost time or end temperature to allow for a more efficient defrost? Is the defrost probe correctly sited on the evaporator?

  • mike cooper Apr 25, 2012

Aah! If it's a hot gas defrost and the compressor is running but not defrosting it is the solenoid at fault. Almost certainly the coil burnt out, but may be the valve itself. Feel the pipework after the coil in defrost. It should be really hot, and the valve should clunk if you lift and drop the coil.

Are there 2 compressors? In effect two systems side by side?

SOURCE: Evap fan stops running/low cooling, Unplug Frig Evap fan runs

Is there anything obstructing the fan area, ice build up ? It is normal for your freezer to get warm if evap fan is not working, it is essential for it to work :) A defrost cycle should kick on a timer or as needed (adaptive) and there should not be excessive frost buildup that it blocks your evap fan. I would have suggested you unplug your refrigerator for about 10 minutes and see if that resets your control board - if not, then you will need service - either replacing motor assembly or a faulty control board.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help. The control board was faulty. This is what I suspected but I wanted a second opinion before buying the board. "

These usually have one compressor and an evaporator on each side with a fan. check the fans first then the defrost timer, heater and limit thermostat.
