3G Mitsubishi Eclipse Climate Control Light Bulb Replacement

How do you replace the burned out light bulbs of the 2001 Eclipse climate control unit in the center of the dash (below the stereo unit). I have tried to remove on a practice unit (junkyard), and ended up breaking the 2 knobs while trying to remove them.

The control panel for the heater and A/C must be removed. Suggest you get Chilton's manual from the library. It will take you through step by step with pictures. To summarize: 1) Remove trim panel covering radio and heater controls. 2) Remove radio. 3) Disconnect the two heater control cables from the control panel. The trick to removing the cables is to compress the "claw" spring holding the cable by pressing a screwdriver from the underside of the control panel to release each cable.4) Remove control panel. Take to a workbench. From the backside of the control panel at the top, notice two large holes through which you can access the V2 Toshiba bulb holders. Turn them a quarter turn to remove them and the bulbs. The bulb is a common #74 bulb.

SOURCE: Can't move the climate control knob to hot

There is a technical service bulletin for this problem.(tsb# 05-55-003) The blend door inside the heater box is binding and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the dash has to be removed and the a.c. refrigerant removed in order to remove the heater box.
I already have purchased the blend door and the linkage for my son,s 2003 Lancer. I will be doing the job in about a week.

SOURCE: I bought a 2004 Lancer

i bought a used 2004 mitsubishi lancer ls sportback with the same problem. a google search told me this was a known defect and was covered under a dealer recall--no cost to me. my local dealer did the job. it took at least a half day--the entire dash, they said, had to be removed. the fix isn't perfect, but it is light years above and beyond what it was b4. the new knobs aren't silky smooth, but the old ones needed tools to turn!

The bulbs in the control head for the heater/ac are nor serviced by GM but I think you can purchase them at radio shack if you can get the head out and apart I am pretty sure you can replace them.

How do I replace the light in the dash for the heating knob ( vent, defroster, etc)

The tiny incandescent light bulb is behind the knob soldered to the circuit board, you must remove the climate control head unit and take it apart to access the knobs back light bulb on the circuit board. You can buy the replacement bulb at Radio Shack, the part number is 7219 Micro Lamp.

I just bought this car. Is there supposed to be a light for the climate control? It is not illuminated in the dark when the lights are on. Just don't know if this is normal or a light or fuse?

It is supposed to be illuminated. It may be a fuse or a bulb inside the climate control module. You can call the dealer and they will tell you if the bulb is replaceable or if the entire module must be replaced.

How to remove 2007 jeep commander climate control panel for light bulb replacement

The lights in the climate control panel are not bulbs, they are LED and the entire panel will need to be replaced. I would check for a bad connection before replacing the panel assembly.

Display on climate control screen is out and i don't see any type of description on fuse panel that fits this problem. AC, heater, fan, everything else works but the display.

U must remove the climate control unit from the dash and remove the top cover of the unit, u will find a tiny twist in light bulb socket with a tiny little light bulb, this provides the backlight for the AC/heater display, u can buy the bulb at any auto parts store, couple of bucks.

Climate contol does not light up.

Unfortunately the bulbs that light up your climate control are not replaceable and in order to get it to light back up again you need to replace the climate control unit.
