Kenmore Frig-Model 106.9710680 age 16
Not a very loud buzz sound is heard from bottom and front of frig.
Temps are all good. Was thinking its the start relay, but it does not clicking sound. Then thought it was the over load relay. I see Sears Parts Direct sells the 1st for $36.53 and the overload for $40.86 and a Grommet for $5.03. If its either one of these relays should I buy the grommet too? Whats the grommet for?
The grommet simply holds the start relay in place. Unless it is torn, you won't need it. Likely the start relay. The buzzing is possibly the relay contacts on the start relay burning if the problem occurs when the compressor starts...although it could be the compressor making noise as well. You might try to "hear it out". The start relay gives a boost to the compressor by adding in another winding inside to 'kick' the compressor.
If all you hear is the buzz, you might just wait a bit to see what fails!
