My L19PS monitor, purchased early in 2005, is malfunctioning. The screen frequently goes blank, often related to some activity on the desk such as bumping the monitor, hanging up a telephone, etc. Any slight movement can trigger the problem. The power light on the power button remains on, but the screen goes blank. If I unplug the power plug from the monitor and reinsert it or unplug the power cord from the power supply and reinsert it, the monitor comes back on every time. However, the frequency of the problem means that it is very annoying.
It does not seem to be the power supply and I cannot find any display setting that seems to give rise to the problem.
Thank you for your help.

Hi jkm007,
Sounds like the back light inverter board is bad.
It's a very common problem.
LCD's use four small cold compact fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it)
The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically show symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display.
If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad.
The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable.
Good Luck,
El Duderino

It is the picture picture board on your monitor that is
malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on, but the display
screen goes blank after a fraction of seconds, it means the
picture
board of your monitor has developed fault.
The best thing for you
to
do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity
or any service center
to help with the replacement of the picture board
because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to
complicate issues.
Hi, first of all check your AVI cord by changing it or check your settings if it's set on timing off at certain intervals. then after all said and done format your system.
The white screen indicates wither a blown power supply or a blown fuse on the LCD panel. If the monitor is in warranty contact your place of purchase. If it is not in warranty then we should be able to repair it for you. Our repair charge is $30 plus return shipping. Contact us at the email address below if you need any more information.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
The screen cable is most likely damaged. Try connecting an external monitor. If it works, you need to take the computer to a repair center to have the cable changed.
The problem here is heat related and can be as simple as poor solder connections at the vertical IC or a defective IC. If you can supply the make and model, more detailed information can be posted. If you can solder, there you may be able to fix this your self. Please update this with the make and model as well as whether or not you wish to attempt the repair and additional details and instructions will follow.
is your CPU working properly? if that the case, your monitor is in need of a service.
reasons for why a monitor goes blank? Reason 1: Wetness
The number one reason why computer monitors go blank is - wetness. Believe it or not, when your computer monitor is exposed to humid air, sometimes water can condense and accumulate in the monitor. This causes the monitor to malfunction and go blank. I've had this happen to my desktop PC at least three times before. What you need to do is to leave the monitor alone for some time and allow the water to evaporate. That usually solves the problem.
Reason 2: Faulty Graphics Card
The next reason why your computer monitor goes black is due to a faulty graphics card. The best way to detect this kind of problem is to connect up a new monitor to your PC, then check if you have a blank screen. If you continue to have a blank screen, then it's likely your video card is faulty.
Reason 3: Faulty RAM
This one is less obvious and less common, but it can happen. You might sometimes get bad RAM modules which prevent your PC from booting up even to the basic BIOS startup screen. To detect this kind of problem is more troublesome, you might need to remove those RAM modules and insert them into another computer.
Reason 4: Loose Connections
Another reason why your monitor goes blank is due to loose connections. The connection from the monitor to the mains is usually a culprit, as is the connection between the monitor and the video card. Check those connections before you declare your computer monitor as faulty.
Reason 5: A Short Circuit In The Motherboard
And the final reason why your computer monitor goes blank? It's possibly because of a short circuit in the motherboard. This is the most undesirable outcome of course, as you might have to replace your entire motherboard. However, it's possible that this can happen - so keep your fingers crossed and hope it doesn't happen to you.

have a nice day.
i just finished repairing a 20 inch acer monitor that had the same issue.... you have to take it apart and examine the power supply side of the monitor. there are capacitors that go bad on that board. you can tell be feeling the tops of them... the feel rounded. replace the capacitors and put it back together and it will work fine
usually this problem is caused by a faulty inverter circuit. transistors might been running too hot or a leaky capacitors also.not an easy task but try looking down for any defects on high voltage sections.
