Turned on my JVC AV-31FA44 32

Turned on the tv, had sound but no image. Turned off/on again and it made a loud pop like a firecracker. It won't come on. Green timer led flashes but nothing happens. Tech said it could be the flyback, but he can't get replacements parts for it here in Puerto Rico. Read here that it could be the power capacitor. Is it worth fixing and where can I get replacement parts?

Check its power regulator section and Line Output Transformer. The work is a skilled one, and only an expereinced service technician can go for ward. You must have its repair book with you too.

You can buy it from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. You have to give them the exact number [number will be printed on the component]. It is best to keep the faulty component in hand as a sample, when you go to buy it. You can buy them from the Authorised Service Center for JVC at your town too. But the cost will differ related to open electronic spare part market.

SOURCE: jvc tv av-32d502 timer light is flashing will not turn on

Hello, I am a tv tech. I worked on a JVC AV-32D502 today. Problem: led flashes / no power or picture at all. Same as trobertson52's set. The microprocessor is bad in my machine. trobertson52, if your sets' relay does not click when the power button is depressed you most likely have the same problem or the standby power circuit is at fault. That circuit supplies +5 volts to the micro.

Edtal you have a different problem with your machine. Your machine is going into shutdown. A number of circuits could cause this and would need to be looked at by a technician to determine exactly which circuit is at fault. High voltage transformer (HOT) \ Vertical Circuit \ Power supply are the most likely causes.

SOURCE: TV will not turn on

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

If you want to DIY you find parts here,

LCD/Plasma Electronic Replacement Parts: Plasma & LCD TVs, Appliances |

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

No picture but sound is perfect

Sounds like the video output has a problem. Maybe missing the 200 volts from the High voltage transformer. The vertical circuit may have an issue. Either way it's hard to diagnose without looking at it. If you need a technician contact JVC online at: http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/ Good Luck
