SOURCE: braun 7526 shaver switch

Managed to fix it - actually was a 7680. Only do this if you:

1. have a small screwdriver set

2. are handy putting little delicate plastic pieces and springs together again

3. are prepared to face the possibility that you might break the shaver entirely

4. you are out of warranty so you don't care if you invalidate it

THE PROBLEM is caused by a small flat metal assembly that acts as a spring to hold the blue button in place. That is held by 4 small glue posts. The glue breaks down, the flat spring falls out of place and the blue button is no long in the right place.

TO OPEN UP THE SHAVER

a. gently remove the plastic cover around the electrical socket underneath, using a small flathead screwdriver to pry it open

b. the two metallic sides of the shaver can be pulled away starting at the bottom of the shaver

c. uncrew the four screws on the underside of the shaver

d. remove cutter block, battery/lcd block (make sure you don't lose the grommet around the lcd display

e. pull the spring and little plastic latch off the underside of the switch, make sure you remember how to put it back (took me almost 20 mins to figure out how to get that back afterwards)

f. slide the switch all the way up and pull it off the slide - you might need a little gentle force and a flathead screwdriver to coax it off - be careful you don't break anything here

g. remove the trimmer from the rest of the switch

h. put the blue piece back in place (mine had fallen out), then glue the flat metal spring back in place. I smeared brush-on crazy glue on the flat surfaces to hold it in place, I would imagine a four drops of reasonably strong glue on each of the glue posts would work best. Wait for the glue to dry and achieve strength.

i. slide the trimmer back into place, then the plastic latch and spring - this is the tricky part. Make sure the switch can slide on/off in all positions properly.

j. put the display/battery & cutter block back in place. put the back of the shaver on, hold the shaver together with your fingers and test the switch works in all positions without jamming. If so put the four screws back, followed by the metallic sides followed by the plastic cover of the electrical socket.

GOOD LUCK!!

SOURCE: Braun battery replacement

Unfortunately this is almost impossible. The batteries are part of the circuit board, and Braun only authorize their service agents to replace the whole unit, and my local agent found that it had been discontinued. If you still want to have a go, two screws are hidden beneath the two grey plastic caps either side of the charging socket on the underside of the shaver which can be prized off quite easily. Once you have removed the screws, the small plastic section comes off. Now you can slide the outer casing off. A thin black cover at the back can then be unclipped, revealing the circuit board and batteries. The whole unit simply lifts out and would be easy to replace if you could find one! Rplacing the batteries would be far more difficult and risky. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have the same problem with my Braun 7570 as the Jan.8, 2008 writer about the 7526 or 7680 shaver. The blue button came off but the shaver still works

This button wears out or just fails with time, but is replaceable.

Braun 7526 Syncro Body Housing with Trimmer
$12.99, Fits Model: 7526, Type: 5493, Includes back case, front case with trimmer/switch, side grips and bottom 'plug', http://shaveroutlet.com/.

To disassemble the 7000 Series Braun shaver.

Disassembly of the 7000 Braun shaver is basically the same as the 8000 series Braun shaver listed below. The 7000 is actually easier to disassemble as the plastic is much thicker and the bottom socket cover pops right off as there are less tabs and they are bigger.

To disassemble the 8000 Braun Series shaver.

Remove the plastic cover on the bottom that covers the corded socket. Be careful, there are a total of two tabs on the short sides and four very small tabs on the long sides. I usedmy fingernail to create a space big enough to insert the corner of a credit card in the center of the long side opposite the blue light indicator, then gently removed the cover. Using a screwdriver could damage the plastic.

The two sides then pop off, they only fit on their respective side when replacing. Don't lose the two small black seals on the top of each side piece.

There are a total of four screws holding the body together. Remove the screws, using the proper flat blade or torx screwdriver. The shaver will then split into. You can then remove the the Motor Drive Unit and the separate circuit board with the batteries.

This would also be a good time to clean the goo buildup from around the shaver head.

Assembly is the reverse of above. The Motor Unit will only fit in one way, there is a flat side and a angular side. Be sure the pin for the trimmer is placed in its proper hole, or it won't extend.

SOURCE: Braun 5614 rechargeable cordless shaver light flickers

Your batteries are starting to degrade, but the good news is they're still holding a charge for a week, so you really don't need to rush to replace them at this point.

The flickering of the charged indicator is normal, as the shaver is still plugged in and the batteries are fully charged. The flickering is due to the batteries chemicals breaking down, and as such, the charge cycle keeps "topping" them off while it's still plugged in.

When you finally aren't able to get a decent amount of cordless operation and run times from your shaver, then you'll want to get them replaced, whether you decide to do that yourself or have it done by a professional service center, is up to you.

Here's a reference for your future use. www.electricshaver.com carries replacement (factory OEM) batteries for most brands of shavers and they also will provide the repair/replacement service for you, should you decide you don't want to do it yourself. You can also give them a call at 1-888-476-1785 and request a price quote, etc.

Anyway, your shaver is working fine and all you need to do is make sure you're not letting the shaver stay plugged in and charging constantly for more than a day, since any "extra" chargind isn't doing anything except keeping the batteries at a constant state of charge. Heat is a byproduct of charging and discharging any battery and as such, you want to allow for a cool down period before recharging them.

I tend to use my shaver until it is almost completely discharged before recharging it. By doing this, you can get the longest working life out of your batteries before you'll have to replace them.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

How to replace battery braun shaver series 1

I don't know about this specific model of Braun shaver (I have a Braun Model 7526).

I have looked at the instructions for a couple of models of Braun Shaver, and the instructions are similar so it may help you to replace the batteries in yours.

Here is one of the instructions:
Braun 7526 battery problem
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1171024-braun_7526_battery_problem

Open the shaver:
1) Use a small flat screw driver pry off the bottom (where the cord plugs in)
2) Remove the silver sides
3) Using a small torq driver remove the 4 screws
4) Open shaver
5) Remove circuit board with batteries
6) Remove and replace circuit board with batteries (or solder in the new batteries)

And here is a link to instructions for a few different ones:

Braun 8995 - YELLOW LIGHT STAYS ON!

I experienced the same symptoms on my 8995; solid yellow light (even though the cartridge was full), cleaning failed (red light on) after pressing either start button. After many failed attempts to clean the razor, unplugging the station and pushing start button, I decided to clean the razor under running water. I rinsed the razor under water and then turned it on allowing it to run in a pool of water (like it would in the station). After water cleaning, I returned the razor to the station, pressed the start button and it worked! Was able to do both the quick clean and auto clean.

Sideburn cutter part needs to be put back on. It became loose and now has fallen out. I could fix this myself if I knew how to open shaver.

if the sideburn cutter has come off, it is because it is broken. You will need to replace it. You will find the item at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Sideburn trimmer does not cut anymore but still makes noise. trimmer blade does not move.

It is pretty common for the trimmer to get jammed up with hair particles and skin oils which can prevent the blade from moving.

Try running the blades of the trimmer in a shallow dish of rubbing alcohol. Then clean the blades vigorously with an old toothbrush or similar. If the blades still does not move try using the tip of a small flat screwdriver or similar object to push and advance the moveable blade. Repeat running in alcohol and brush clean

If this doesnt work, you will probably need a new trimmer

The on/off slider is stuck on won't slide to off position

The trimmer/switch is broken. You will need to replace it. You will find the components that you require at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/braun-8995-8595-and-8795-body-housing-with-trimmer-p-684.html

To replace the part you will need to remove the 'cap' that surrounds the cord hole on the bottom of the shaver by gently prying it off with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. Once removed, the side grips will easily pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to seperate the front and back case. The inner parts simply lift out and you can put them into the new case

Cannot switch from '1' to '2' to '3'

The problem is that the switch assembly is broken. You will need to replace it. It comes with the whole outer case of the shaver and is available at shaveroutlet.com. See link below.

http://shaveroutlet.com/braun-8995-8595-and-8795-body-housing-with-trimmer-p-684.html

Yo replace it, you will need to first remove the 'cap' on the bottom of the shaver. This is a piece of plastic that surround the hole on the bottom of the shaver where the cord plugs in. Gently pry it off with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. Once removed, the side grips will simply pull off revealing 4 screws on the back. Remove screws to remove the back cover. Then list out the internal components.

The on/off mechanism on my dads braun 6520 is stuck. It won't turn on.

Hello running girl, Have you looked to see if maybe the "lock-off" feature hasn't been engaged?

If you look at the razor, right above the on/off and sideburn trimmer selector, you should see a full bar that goes all the way across the shaver. Push this up toward the shaving head to unlock the razor and the shaver should work fine again.

This is a Braun design feature there to help prevent the shaver from accidently getting turned on when packed in your luggage, etc. and running down a fully charged shaver.

There is nothing like reaching for what you thought was a charged and ready to use shaver and discovering that it got switched on and ran the batteries down.

Other than having the lock off feature engaged, I can't think of anything that would cause the switch not to turn on, unless the shaver was dropped and damaged. If that's the case, you will want to have it looked at to make sure the printed circuit board hasn't been broken, etc.

Typically this isn't something that most folks can undertake a diagnois and repair, so I'd suggest you contact www.electricshaver.com or call them at 1-888-476-1785 to get an estimate for repairing it.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My braun 8585 shaver just stopped working. Does anyone know if it can be fixed? Please let me know. Thanks

There can be a number of reasons why it stopped working. But given the age of the shaver, it's probably not worth trying to fix. I'd recommend getting a newer unit. Try the 8995 360 Complete model.
