Music management rca th1100

The Music Management CD that comes with your player contains all of the necessary software components you need to make your player work properly.

These components enable you to transfer files from your computer to your player.

Inserting the included CD into CD drive:

Turn on your computer and place the Music Management CD that came with your player into your computer.

Important: Don\'t connect the USB cable to the PC or the player before or during the CD installation.

If the setup screen does not appear, double-click My Computer, double click your CD drive icon, and double click Install to run the installer.

To download music to computer

Hi acdcrockwg,

In order to download music onto your computer (which you will need to do before transferring music from your computer to your player), you can purchase music online by individual track or album downloads (there are a number of online music services) or you can purchase a music subscription (such as Rhapsody) which allows you to play music as long as your subscription continues.

Another method of downloading music to your computer is by ripping CD's. For instructions on how to download and also transfer music to your player, visit www.philips.com/support and enter your specific model number in the search engine to arrive at the product page (which includes FAQ's, video tutorials, manuals, etc.). Model numbers typically begin with "SA."

Hope this helps. Let me know by rating this solution. Thanks!

You can also speak with a Consumer Care agent by calling 1-888-744-5477.

RIPPING CD INSTRUCTIONS:

When a CD is ripped, the audio files such as voice recording, music and audio book are copied into the memory of the computer.

Follow the steps below to rip a CD:
  1. Insert the CD into the CD drive of the computer.
  2. Launch Songbird in the computer.
  3. Once the CD is detected by the software, the audio files in the CD will be shown.
  4. Click the "Rip CD" on the right hand side and the ripping process will begin.
    110210043950_71588.jpg
If the audio file is successfully ripped, there will be a tick sign on the beginning of the row showing the name.

Note:
Make sure you are authorized to rip the CD. Unauthorized duplication of any recordings whether downloaded from the Internet or made from audio CDs is a violation of copyright laws and international treaties.

How can i download songs?

So, you are intending to buy a new MP3 player. You have a wide variety of options to chose from. Creative, Coby, or an RCA MP3 player are just a few of them. It may even be a cell phone that doubles as an MP3 player, or a handheld game console such as Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable). The next important step is knowing, how to store music on my MP3 player, so that you can listen to music while you're commuting to and from work. This article will tell you how to download music onto MP3 device.

How to Download Songs from Internet?

The first step is to download music from the Internet. You can download songs from websites, who allow you to do it for free, or you may have to pay for the downloads. One of the ways is going to the Apple iTunes music store and pay 99 cents for every song you want to download.

Note that these songs are protected by Apple's FairPlay DRM (Digital Rights Management), so you can play the songs only on the Apple iPod, MP3 players. Other online stores encrypt the songs using the Windows Media Digital Rights Management (WMDRM) for security purposes. In order to decrypt and playback these files, you need the license key. If your license has expired, you will not be able to playback the files. Your MP3 player has to support WMDRM, in order to play these audio files.

You can also use a music subscription service such as eMusic. For $11.99 per month, you can download upto 24 songs a month. Other online music stores are Napster, MusicNow, URGE, and Yahoo! Music, which also allow music download, for a certain charge that you have to pay. The other way is to simply search for the song title and artist name on Google, and download the song from some website which allows you to do so for free. You can also download entire albums using BitTorrent.

How Do I Download Music onto an MP3 Player?

Another way to get MP3 files is by ripping your music CDs. In this way, you can convert your music to MP3 or WMA (Windows Media Audio) format. To do this, first insert the music CD into the computer's CD drive. Then you can rip your CD using Windows Media Player, to encode your music to the WMA format. Note that you should deselect the "Copy Protect Music" option so that your music files are compatible with most MP3 players.

The next step is to download music onto MP3 player. This means to copy or sync the songs you want, to your MP3 player. You must be wondering, how do I download songs to an MP3 player? You have to connect the MP3 player to the computer using a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable. If your MP3 player has USB-MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) support, then even better. The Windows operating system will automatically detect the device, which will be shown as a USB flash drive.

You can find the device by going to "My Computer". Then you can copy and paste the files from your computer to the MP3 player. Otherwise, you can go to "Windows Explorer" and drag and drop the files to your MP3 player. Note that you need to drop the songs into the right directory, or the MP3 player will not be able to play the files.

You can also use the media management functions of Windows Media Player to transfer the files. Most MP3 players have special software available from the manufacturer to sync the files. For example, the Creative Zen MP3 player has the "Creative Media Explorer" to allow you to import the audio. Note that you may also have to install specific drivers for the MP3 player.

Most MP3 players can handle audio files in three formats: MP3, WMA, and WAV. There are also other file formats such as OGG and Apple's AAC (Advanced Audio Coding). MP3 players can also work as FM radio, so you can listen to radio stations that are available in your city. They can also record voice. You have to simply press the Record button, and speak to the device, and then playback what you have just said.

MP3 players also have other functions such as the ability to view photos and playback videos. Hope this article has helped you to learn, how to download music onto an MP3 player. Now, that you know how to copy music to MP3 players, you can enjoy listening to music whenever and wherever you want to.

File format not supported...what does that mean

Not supported format concerns one or more of the next items:
  • size: the memory size of the file ( too small or too large)
  • layout: the size of a frame for video or photo, bitrate or identification tags for music,
  • extension: the suffix added after the dot file name
e.g. photo1.jpg or photo2.tif
  • digital rights management: copy protected files sometimes can
be played, but cannot be transferred mostly.

Media like photos and videos
1. Need to have the supported format as required for the software called "Media Converter" on the computer.
2. A Media Converter must be used to convert the format into a model that can be read on the player before it is accepted to do a transfer.

Music
1. Must have the supported format as required for the player.
The identification called ID-tag contains the name of the song, artist, album etc.
The bitrate of music says something about the quality / sample rate
of the song: when converting cd audio to e.g. song1.wav or song2.mp3
(called "ripping") the quality depends on the presettings of the audio
conversion.

I have copied some wma music files onto it but it will not play. It says, No authority (and has DRM in the top left corner)

It's a pain but if you can burn those files from windows media player to an 'audio disc' not an mp3 disc and then re-import them into windows or whatever you use from that audio disc as mp3 files they will shed their DRM's. DRM's stand for digital rights management so be sure your not infringing on copyrights when you do this and only do it for music that you actually own.

Can't play music

Hi there. "Syncronize to continue your music subscription" is normally an indicator of the following causes, depending on the source and type of the music that you have on your M240: (1) If your music files came from a subscription music service provider (Napster,Yahoo, Rhapsody for example): This would mean that the licenses for these subscription songs need to be updated. They must be updated at least once every 30 days. You must use your subscription music service's software to resync the songs (the process varies depending on the service). Also, you would get that "sync" notice if you've cancelled your subscription. (2) If your music files were ripped from an audio CD: The best solution would be to once again "Rip" these audio CD files using Windows Media Player, version 10 or 11. Before ripping, ensure that the "Copy Protect Music" option is unchecked by going to Windows Media Player's "Tools", then "Options", then selecting the "Rip Music" tab. If all else fails, the best "last resort" would be by setting the M240 to MSC mode and formatting it in Windows Explorer or "Disk Management" I hope this proves useful. I know it's quite a bummer when you have a whole bunch of songs just sitting in your player with a "Sync" error.
