SOURCE: No Internet access. Wep personal Connects to

1. You possibly may have the IP address statically assigned in the NIC card properties and or the router. ???
2. Go to the control panel then to network then check the properties of the TCP/IP procol properties to see if you have it set to "obtain an ip automatically"
also see if you have " DNS to obtain automaticall".
3.Unplug the ethernet cord for about 30 seconds the connect it back to the ethernet port.
4. check to see if you have a connection to the internect.
5. call your ISP to see if you line has had any disconnects or maintenance.
6. check the router status ( this will tell you if you have disconnected from the ISP 's server and need a possible reset .
7. Do a ipconfig /all to see if you have the "media disconnect" error > this is done by going to the command prompt and typing "cmd" enter then you DOS prompt will show.
8. check you status lights on the router to give this information to the tech when calling your ISP to walk you through a reset or check the connection on the DSL/ CABLE line.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!ormation to the tech when calling your ISP to walk you through a reset or check the connection on the DSL/ CABLE line.

SOURCE: my asus wl-500gP v2 can't connect to the wan

Your ISP address is dynamic, which means every time you log on to your ISP, your WAN IP address changes, this helps to stop hacking. Your ISP even though it is cable uses PPPoE/PPPoA, so you should set your router to this, not dymamic, setting your router to dynamic will make your router look for a different IP address every time your computer tries to log to it, your computer should have e.g 192.168.1.2, which is static, you can check this by going to command prompt and typing ipconfig, see what it brings up. hope this helps and post back if you need further help.

My Zhone 1518-A1 modem-router keeps loosing internet connection although wifi connected. Is it normal that the internet led is blinking?

Hi,

Its normal for the internet light to blink, it means that its having an activity.

Try accessing the modem GUI (graphic users interface) and then change the WEP key or security key , if the modem-router is not password protected then just reset it.

You can also change the power values on it

Hope this helps

Thanks

I have a Zhone ADSL2+ 4 Port Wireless Bridge/Router, model number 1518-A1-UK-0MA. it as working perfectly until one day when i turned it ON, only the ADSL LED is lit, no other LEDs are on, nor the power...

Please use the following steps:
1. Remove the router and connect it directly from the pc to the modem.
2. Power cycle: turn the modem off and then the computer for 30 seconds, then turn them both back on, modem first.
3. Check you internet connection to see if it working.
4. If it working, connect the router back up. If it not working contact your ISP for dsl support.
5. Once the router is connected, release/renew the ip address. Go to the dos command type ipconfig/release press enter. Then type ipconfig/renew. Check your ip address, you shouldn't get an ip address starting with 169. If you do, this mean you have a problem with the router getting an ip address.
6. Check you internet connection after the release/renew

My laptop doesn't have any connection this am. Can you tell me how many light should be on the router or blinking. I have a Dir-601

The router's POWER lamp should be on, and steady.
The WAN lamp should be on, but blinking when the router is sending/receiving from the Internet.
The LAN lamp should be on, but blinking when the computer is sending/receiving from the router.

Disconnect the cable from the LAN port.
Turn the router off.
Turn the router on, and watch the lamps -- they all should light up, briefly, and then the WAN lamp should blink for a short time, as the router obtains a new IP-address from your ISP.
Connect the cable to the LAN port, and watch the LAN lamp blink for a short time, as the computer obtains a new IP-address from the router.

Belkin Wireless G Router causes loss of internet connection

Does your router have one LED lamp for each "wired" port?
If so, does unplugging the Ethernet-cable (the one that connects to your desktop PC) cause the lamp to go off?
Does reconnecting that cable cause the lamp to go on?

Also, on your desktop computer, there could be a lamp right beside where the Ethernet-cable connects into your computer.
Again, disconnect the cable, and reconnect the cable, to see if that lamp goes off/on.

Have you tried a different cable?

Do *NOT* connect your desktop computer to the 'WAN' port on the router -- connect it to any of the "LAN" ports.

Signal found, but no connectivity

Try this. It should renew your configuration between your router and your internet provider:

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by typing in the IP address of the router (default:192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The username is admin (all lowercase) and the password is blank (nothing).

Note: The 192.168.0.1 address is NOT on the internet. It is the address to the router itself.

Step 2 Click the Home tab and click the WAN button. Dynamic IP Address is the default value, however, if Dynamic IP Address is not selected as the WAN type, select Dynamic IP Address by clicking on the radio button. Click Clone Mac Address. Click on Apply and then Continue to save the changes.

Step 3 Click on Status. Under WAN, Click DHCP Renew. If it does not get an IP address or times out, then continue with Step 4.

Step 4 Power cycle the cable modem and router:

Turn the cable modem off (first)
Turn the router off
Leave them off for 2 minutes**
Turn the cable modem on (first)
Wait until you get a solid cable light on the cable modem
Turn the router on
Wait 30 seconds

** If you have a Motorola (Surf Board) modem, leave off for at least 5 minutes.

Step 5 Follow Step 1 again and log back into the web configuration. Click the Status tab and click the Device Info button. If you do not already have a public IP address under the WAN heading, click on the DHCP Renew and Continue buttons.
If you're still getting no connection to the internet, another alternative (before chucking the router) would be to reset it to factory defaults, and run through the setup process again, from scratch.

Cheers

Router not picking up i0 address

If you have cable internet then you need to :
* disconnect router from cable modem
* restart the cable modem (power off-on)
* restart the router (power off-on)
* connect cable modem to router WAN port using CAT5 straight cable

If problem still exist try changing the cable to new one. If it still does not work then contact your ISP

Problem after firmware update Edimax BR-6114Wg

Hi Fklco,

Why are you connecting the WAN,, (the internet modem cable), to the standard ports? It should have a WAN port, for the cable from the modem, and a LAN for the cables to the computer?

On the other hand, if it is working, I would leave well enough alone, :D

Re belkin wireless g router 2.4ghz-802

First thing to do is to recycle your Cable or DSL modem.. this is your 'gateway' to the internet, and this is the place to start.. The 'gateway' should have some lights on it which will indicate whether it is connected to the WAN (Wide Area Network)... If the light is not lit, then power the device off / on and see if you can connect now..

Also, you might want to go to the Belkin configuration pages and see if you can renew your IPAddress... if this does not work, then the problem is most likely with your ISP and you will need to contact them for support..

Let me know what you discover..
