Our Mitsubishi ws-55313 would not power-up properly - the green light would come on, then go off after a short time. A tv repairman came and the tv was diagnosed with needing to have the deflect power supply replaced. How much does the deflect power supply cost by itself?

The SMPS section is not oscillating. Your TV need a through checkup. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not
attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electric shock. Instead, contact any experienced service
technician, or the nearest service center.
You can check the Error code by doing the following.
On the Front panel hold down the Device and Menu Button for 5 seconds. The LED light will then start flashing the first set of flashing lights is for the "1"5 part of the code it will then pause for about a half second and start the ones place 1"5". The code will repeat 5 times before going off.
The Error Codes: 12 - Normal Operation; 21 - X-Ray Protect; 22 - Short Protect; 23 - Loss of Horizontal Deflection; 24 - Loss of Vertical Deflection.
The problem may also be in the power supply when you first plug the device in check how many times the Led blinks if it blinks for just over a minute the power supply is working fine. If the Led blinks repeatedly and does not stop the DM is not running.
This is a link to the service manual for you TV, http://www.service-manual.eu/model.php?id=2710
The model you have selected should have a self check feature: when turns off and the green
power light goes off:
ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS AND HOLD BOTH MENU
AND INPUT(some sets the input is called device) together for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.
The
power light should blink a two digit error code: for example: 2 blinks,
a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code about 10 times.
error codes for this set:
1, then 2 no error detected 2, then 1 X-ray protection 2, then 2 short protection 2, then 3 deflection circuit problem 2, then 4 vertical deflection problem
2, then 2 is the most common and easiest to fix.
Let me know what you find and if 2,2 I have detailed instructions for repairing that kind of trouble.
Shutdown at Power

Cause #1
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SELF- DIAGNOSIS INDICATE X-RAY. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC5A03 PART # 270P704010 AND AN OPEN R5A73 82K ¼ WATT OFF PIN 2 OF IC5A02 ON THE MAIN PCB. 2. SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

You can purchae the tubes from between 200 and 300 dollars. To remove and set them up you will need the service manual for the safe and proper proceedure . Especially discharging the crt and realigning the new tube Green has to have perfect aim as the other tubes converge onto the green. Let me know if I can help you further.
