Bleach and softener dispensers filled with water at end of cycle

I only use bleach or softener on very rare occasions. So I was puzzeled when I noticed the two dispenser cavities filled with, presumably, water one day. Prior to the start of the cycle I removed the water with a towel so that they were almost dry. Now, I didn't check when they cycle ended (silly me) but when I went to do the next load there was water there again. I have tried depressing the bleach button to no avail. Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

After each load of wash is finished I noticed the water softner dispensor filled with water. I took this part out and soaked it hot water for an hour and then put it back in, but it still filled up with water. I had service come out and they said they would replace the part because they have cleaned them and still had to come back again for the same problem. They put the new dispensor in and it is still filling up the water softner part with water.

I have the same problem with water remaining in the softener slot after the wash is done. I removed the divided portion and cleaned it but will try to clean the area below it (appearently there is a flap) as I'm sure there is a build up of residue that is clogging the line.

I have the front load washer. There is water that stands in the bleach and fabric softner dispensor. What causes this? Will I need to get a repair person in to fix this issue?

Yes, remove the dispenser tray by pressing on the button on the softner and pulling out tray completely. Now lift the flap over the softner compartment and clean thourougly with hot water, making sure all tubes and holes are free from residue softner/detergents. Replace flap by making sure the bigger tube fits OVER the smaller tube and click into place. Replace tray. Water is present due to the "syphon effect" of the dispenser not working, caused by residue detergents blocking the tubes/holes. Oshie

I have a 4-6 month old Bosch with same problem (being new unit I am positive there is no buildup in drain). Have called Bosch, not much help. Called repairman (under warranty), replaced a water inlet valve, didn't help. I noticed that if you add water to the dispenser cell that is partially full it will begin to empty (syphon effect),, but will never totally empty (can't due to the design). So, the problem must be that the water that is designed to flow into the dispenser cells during wash cycle for the purpose of flushing, is not always getting there. Can it be fixed? Call Bosch.

How do I get the bleach dispenser to drain?

Hello Denise C - There are several things that could cause the bleach to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is bleach? If it is pure bleach, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the bleach dispenser with water. The bleach dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.

When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the bleach solenoid is energized and water flows into the bleach dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and bleach and water flow into the tub.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is pure bleach you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the bleach solenoid and a volt meter is required.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. Scum will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the bleach and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub.

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.

To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the bleach compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out. You may also test the fabric softener compartment the same way.

I do hope this information proves to be helpful.

The bleach and softner dispenser does not work. The liquid softner would still be there at the end of the wash - never dispensed. I took out the dispenser and cleaned it, but no change. When I leave the...

Don't know if this is the answer, but my dispensers stayed filled also. repairman said the water wasn't flowing into the machine quickly enough and therefore not tripping the sensor that told the machine when to disburse the softener and/or bleach. He took the cold watersupply line loose, and the mesh was full of sediment. He said it wasn't necessary to replace the mesh. Sure enough, it started working immediately. He did the same for the hot water line..it wasn't clogged.

Fabric softener dispenser fills up with clear water after washing cycle is complete. I do not use fabric softener .

Purchase some fabric softener and place it in its normal location at the beginning of the cycle. At the end of the cycle check to see if fabric softener has been dispensed and whether there is water in the cup.

If the fabric softener is gone, but there is water in the fabric softener cup, then your problem may be with the water valve assembly. The water valve assembly (as one complete unit) has a separate solenoid for hot and cold water temperatures, bleach and fabric softener. The fabric softener solenoid on the water valve assembly could be defective (allowing water to fill the fabric softener cup).

My problem is that the fabric softener doesn't dispense on my GE front loader WCVH6260 washer. (I rarely use the bleach compartment, so I don't really know if that is working.) The detergent part dispenses...

I know this may sound silly, but I have seen this problem solved on many occasions by cleaning the filter screen(s) in your cold water supply hose!
This is because the softener dispenser must fill with cold water (on top of your softener liquid) in order to start the siphoning off of the softener. If the cold water supply is restricted, the dispenser will not receive enough water begin the siphon effect.
Now before you tear things apart, try this test...
Begin a wash cycle by filling with HOT water, and observe (listen to) how fast the tub is filling for a few seconds... Now change the wash temperature to COLD, and notice the difference in water flow. If you detect a noticeable decrease in water flow... Clean the cold water hose screens!
How? Unplug the unit! Turn the cold water valve off, and remove the hose. (If you did the test above, you will easily feel which hose is the cold one.) Use a small brush and a squirt bottle to clear the screen inside the inlet to the washer, and also check the end of the hose where it attaches to the plumbing... some guys put a screen at both ends of the hose. Put it back together, turn the water on and CHECK for leaks. All OK? Plug 'er in and wash a load, and pat yourself on the back for saving yourself the price of a service call!
Hope this helps...

Water left in fabrish softener dispenser after wash cycle

My Frigidaire front loader was doing the same thing and also not taking the bleach. I could hear that the water pressure was not real strong when I turned the machine on. I removed the two small screens on the back of the machine where the water supply hoses attached, found they were partially clogged and cleaned them well. The bleach and softener dispensers are now working like new.

The softener holder just fills with water but will not drain.

Is water left in the dispenser at the end of the cycle?
About two tablespoons of water remaining in the dispenser compartment at the end of the cycle is normal. At the end of the wash cycle, fresh water automatically cleans the dispenser. Check that the cycle is complete before opening the dispenser drawer.
Is the dispenser drawer clogged?
A clogged dispenser can block the flow of water through the dispenser and cause water to leak out. Manually remove the dispenser, and clean any leftover detergent or additives that could clog the flow of water through the dispenser. Also, check that the detergent drawer is always completely closed during the cycle. If the drawer is not closed completely, water can leak out onto the floor.
Are the additives dispensing too early?
Here are a few things that can cause the additives (detergent, fabric softener or liquid chlorine bleach) to dispense early:
  • Check that the dispenser is not overfilled. Do not fill past the MAX fill lines on the dispenser. Overfilling can cause early dispensing of liquid chlorine bleach and/or fabric softener.
  • Check that the detergent separator is in the correct position. For liquid detergent, the separator should be in the front position. For powdered detergent, the separator should be in the rear position. If the separator is in the rear position while you are using liquid detergent, it will dispense immediately, which is not how it is designed to work.
  • Use powdered HE detergent when using the DELAY WASH option. Liquid detergent may dispense prior to the start of wash.
Are the additives dispensing too late?
The additives will not dispense until the proper time if the DELAY WASH option is selected.
