Your denon amp amp does not match and work well in some players for instance "Samsung" no pictures and sound via HDMI input. Only replacing players to another brand such as LG can fix the problem.
Check the language mode settings on the DVD player.
The language settings may be set different than the DVDs setting. This will cause the voices to dissappear if the DVD does not have a sound track in the language selected on the DVD player.
If I were to guess, make sure it is set to play in ENGLISH. =D
Hi, and yes I would agree with you that there is one channel not getting decoded. The likely problem is a setting in the menu of the dvd player under " AUDIO SETTINGS " . It may take a couple of trials and errors to get it back to where it was before ( just because we aren't sure what the original setting was )I would suggest that you make sure the " DIGITAL OUT " is set to " PCM " versus " LPCM " because this being improperly set can mess up your surround sound. Also there mar be settings for " DOWNMIX " labeled " LT/RT-STEREO and a couple others whose names escape me at the moment. Changing one or more of these will almost assuredly get you back on track. Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa. I hope this helps, Prodzilla
Bought a new unit. The old unit was a surround sound system in which the previous owner removed the speakers. I wasn't aware of the problem but found out that it would not allow it to play on Dolby 5.1...It would only play DVD's on channel 2, therefore no english etc. Thanks for your help!!!
If this is on a home made dvd then that is probably where you the problem is.
If you try a proper store bought dvd and that works then you know its the other dvd.
But if a proper store bought dvd give the same errors then it could b a setting or part of the sound replay circuits that have or ore dying
Set sound properties to Stereo by going in to menu of dvd player as it seems its set on AC3 or Dolby Surround some thing.
Need further help, let me know.
