This is a big job mate these are a pain to re time in and are a pain to strip, take engine out yourself, and fit yourself, let a mechanic do it for you. gear boxes are rocking horse dood dooo ould be a bent selector I thin also.

How do i fix an outboard motor that jumps out of reverse gear when poweris applied

thee are gear cable adjustment that ensure complete engagement of the drive dog in the leg
If it properly adjusted then you will have to pull te leg off and dissemble the gear box and fit new gears and a dog clutch
because it is a straight engagement into square segments and the engine shaft is running it hits and misses until it eventually engages
over time instead of square segments they become tapered and so will slip back out of gear under load
the operator will normally be at fault as the engagement should be at low idle with a sharp movement of the selector lever

My fzr 1000 87 jumped out of gear when i gave it a boot full, is my gear box on its way out?

If it jumps out of gear then the drive dogs on the side of the gears in the gearbox are worn and need replacing along with the matching drive or driven gear.the oil type is 10 w 40 only use this and also make sure it not fully synthetic or the clutch will slip.

My xlh 1000 jumps out of 2nd and 3rd gear when under a load

If you like to drag race on the street and do a LOT of hard shifts the most likely will be worn dogs on the gears ... to find out put your bike in the gear that is popping out the most and gradually bring on the power ... if it pops out of gear anywhere before max, its the shift dogs ... tranny rebuild time. It's behind the primary cover and not a big deal for a HD tech but not something with which you want to experiment,

2000 gsxr 750 gear shift problem

Hey Tom, .. OUCH.. sounds serious..FIRST - STOP "hot rodding" this bike. especially in the lower gears!! Now- the gears have "dogs" on the sides of the driven gears and on some of the wheel gears, and holes in the other wheel gears..(wheel gears are the non-drive gears - thats why there are 12 gears in a 6-speed transmission). This sounds like the dogs are on their last bit of "bite" (the dogs engage each other or the dogs insert themselves into the holes of a wheel gear).. once these dogs start to wear, they wear out faster and faster. ALL the transmission gears are "case hardened".. the outer .040" - .065" of the gear are "case hardened", the internal area is left softer(teeth too)..If they were HARD all the way through, they would be too brittle and shatter!! (I could tell you A LOT about more how this is accomplished and why - but just know this is the way it is!) Once the hardened area is worn down,, failure is imminent.(and much more expensive that repairing a NON-BLOWN-UP TRANSMISSION). The gears must be replaced as sets(usually the driven gear and wheel gear)..THEY MAY NOT BE EACH CALLED FIRST GEAR!!. THIS IS A JOB for a FACTORY TRAINED QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL , - WITH EXPERIENCE!!! Or else you MIGHT have trouble in the future or spend money when you do not need to!! Sorry to tell you this... but it happens when your bike has been rode hard!! (its not uncommon!)

I'm having problems switching inot second gear I have to almost kick it before it will go into second. Sometime the bike does not respond in fourth gear. It sounds like a transmisson to me hope its not....

Sorry, the tranny is the problem. You have a bent shift fork or two and it isn't a low cost repair. The entire engine gets torn down to get to the bad parts. Contact a dealer and get an estimate for the repair. Chances are it will be over $2000.

I have a CBF1000 '08 model that jumps out of gear usually when shifting from1st to 2nd and also when shifting from 5th to 6th The bike has only travelled 3500ks !.has any one else suffered similar problems...

Jumping out of gear from 1st to 2nd usually indicates damage to the dogs of the transmission. This is common if the bike is raced and shifted hard between gears.

2002 gsxr 1000 trans

gennerally it has to do with the tranny. the slots & dogs the hold the gears in where out and allow it to slip out of gear, it is fixiable but i would suggest having a qualified mec. do the work you have to take the engine apart to replace the parts.
