THis has happened to me a couple of times and i have fixed it by doing the following:

1. slide the electronic display unit off its base
2. spray a bit of WD 40 on the 2 gears right next to each other (they are gold and black on my unit)
3. spray a bit of WD40 on the large grey wheel on the other side of the 2 gears. The 2 gears are supposed to turn the grey wheel, which in turns pushes a little black plunger in with one of its three little prongs. Use a screw driver to make sure that the plunger is moving freely - push it in and out a few times and put a bit of WD40 on it.

The whole error code is about that large grey wheel not moving - it is the "magnetic disc" that the owner's manual refers to.

Finally, reposition the elwectronic display unit - make sure it is tightly secured in its original position, or it will not work.

Unplug the power to the display unit and then re-plug it back in. The unit should go through its cycle on its own then...assuming you don't have any damaged parts. Hope this helps!!!!

This fix worked perfectly and took me 5 minutes. Make sure to push in the little black plunger a few times to get it to work correctly. I'm guessing this will have to be repeated maybe every year to ensure the problem doesn't happen again. Thanks.

I also have had more difficulty with this if the water softener is filled very full with salt - I am guessing the dust/grit from the salt gets into the gears and the gears don't like that very much. I have made a point of keeping it about 3/4 full and have not had a problem in a long time with that method.

Pop cover off with 2 hands, it is the top 6 inches of the unit.
Slide 4x3 inch display towards the 3 plugs to expose plunger gears and wheel in question.
Used Rem Oil gun oil to lube up the gears and spun the grey wheel by hand.
2nd time plugged back in with the display back in it's proper location, the unit is up and running.

I woke up to a beeping Water Boss with an E1 code and this string has helped solve the issue. But I had one more step beyond lubricating the gears. First, one item to add, to remove the display unit slide it to the right. With the display removed I lubricated the gears as suggested and I noted that the gear on the small timing motor moved around a lot, and when the motor spun the control wheels the gear was binding up. I then looked carefully at point the gear attached to the motor and noted a threaded shaft end with no nut, and a small nut on the top of the water softener unit below that. My 20+ years of engineering experience kicked in, or maybe it was the last episode of my favorite supper hero, Captain Obvious, and I concluded the nut belonged on the end of the shaft. To do that unplug the timing motor from the controller, remove the two screws that hold the timing motor in place and take the timing motor out for access to the shaft end. Carefully thread the nut back on the shaft and tighten with a 1/4" wrench or socket. The put the timing motor back, you may have to wiggle the grey control wheel to help mesh the teeth. Plug the timing motor back into the controller and remount the controller. Thank you to Elizabeth and Jake for getting me close enough to figure it out.

LG dishwasher LD2080TH Error code: E1

LG has programmed in the E1 error code to indicate when the drain pump is running, it is not receiving the back pressure it needs. This is most likely an indication that there is a water leak in the draining system.

We keep getting an error message E1. We have an LG 2120 model

The E1 or 1E error or fault code indicates that the washer is not filling with water. Check to be sure the water supply valves are open. Also, check to be sure the water supply hoses aren't kinked or clogged. Next, remove the hoses from the washing machine and run water into a bucket to test the pressure and flow of the water. If all of these check out and you have good water pressure and flow to the machine, you should replace the water inlet valve.

I have an E1 message on my samsung front loader, can you tell me what that means?

Is the system filling up with water then halting with an E1 error or can you complete an entire cycle?
E1 in Samsung Front Loaders: It means the machine has detected an error in inlet water filter or the water pressure. Some of my sources indicate E1 could also be a leakage error It could all mean a faulty sensor but you should check th water lines, the door seals and the floor beneath the machine for tell-tale signs of a leaking system. Is the system filling up with water then halting with an E1 error or can you complete an entire cycle?
If you can fill the washer, but it faults with and E1, and can go no further, my research shows a common cause for the problem is the PVC tube connecting the pressure sensor to the drum has experienced a problem. In some modern washers, the water level is measured and regulated with a pressure sensor connected to the tub with a plastic tube. As the water level rises inside the drum, the pressure rises inside the sealed tube. The tube can sometimes become detached or even plugged with lint, soap or wash grime. Check the pressure sensor line to make sure it is attached to the drum and is completely unobstructed by foreign objects or deposits. If so, clean the debris and/or reattach the tube to the drum and try running starting a cycle. If you don't get the E1 code - Hooray, everyone has clean clothes again :-)
If this does not work, here is a link to a Washing Machine User Blog which might be able to offer more experts and more specific information http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/washers
