Akai LCT2701TD

My color all of a sudden is not working. the faces are all yellow green and the colors on the screen are basically yellow green and blue. I tried to adjust it with the color temperature but nothing changed. I thought it might be the cable, and they are coming out but I want to make sure it's not the TV. It's weird when I go in to change the color for my cable guide none of those colors work either. everything looks light blue or green.

I turned it off for about five hours. Should it have been longer? When I turned it back on the color was the same. when I go to bed tonight I will turn it off again so it will be off all night. Do you have any other suggestions. the TV is only about 2 1/2 3 years old never gave me any problems.

Unplug your TV for a while and see fi you are getting the same issues after you plug it in. If it works after, then you have an overheating issue with the power supply or main board.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Akai 52" rear projection...colors are off and screen is washed yellow

Sounds like the blue gun has died. I would say that you should call Salvation Army and have them collect it for you and buy a new LED flat screen TV to replace it.

How do i remove the green haze

one of two issues are possible here:

Model indicated has a convergence circuit= colors are skewed or even 3d looking is convergence problem. Set has Akai name but is made by Samsung--if a convergence issue can be a do it yourself repair.

I can explain what is needed if that is the problem (see some attached photos).

The other issue seen is if on a black and white picture (color turned off) stand back and look at the screen= is it yellow looking or gray?

If yellow looking the Glycol (a cooling fluid in each tube) is contaminated- usually in these sets the blue is first= no real blue leaves a yellow screen.

Look at the photos and try to tell me which issue you have.

Akai PT5499hd that has suddenly lost color alignment

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Akai lct2701td, flat screen tv won't turn on.

Oh Dear. I had the same problem!! The Akai televisons are not well engineered-meaning that they tried to put too much in a little package. The problem is that the power supply is malfunctioning"supposedly". But I believe that the sad truth is that the whole motherboard is malfunctioning. I can suggest a few TEMPORARY solutions but they too are not guaranteed to work!
1. Bring the tv to a repair shop and tell them to check the power supply. If it is faulty -have it exchanged and it will work for <2 weeks.
2. Literally "bend" the television in multiple directions to find a sweet spot where the screen turns on.( wait for the diode tu tur green before doing this) this will slightly bend the motherboard in hopes of agitating it to turn the screen/bulbs on.

I am terribly sorry that you too have this ridiculous problem!!!!!! :-(
Good Luck!!! I am crossing my fingers for you!!

I have the akai model # ptf492s and the white colors are yellow

I'm almost positive the problem is you have fungus in the CRTs. I know this sounds strange, but it's true. Basically there is coolant fluid in the lamps that develops fungus over time and turns yellow. It should be clear. If you take the back off the television, you will see the 3 lenses (red, green, blue) Each of the lens is held on with 3 screws. Remove the adjustable lens and look at each CRT. Shine a flashlight in they should look white. From what I've read, blue develops the problem first, then green. You can replace the fluid. Look up TV coolant replacement online. It's not to difficult, but you cannot get any of the fluid on the circuit boards or it will ruin it. Mine had a lot of fungus in the blue CRT and a little in the green. The picture looks 100% better now. Good Luck.

Akai LCT2701TD Color problem

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Color problem

There are three Cathod Ray guns responsible for the millions of colors. All colors are produced by mixing the three basic colors namely Red Green and Blue (RGB) at suitable proportion. If any one of the three guns fail firing then we get improper colors. This can be rectified by
(1) hitting the monitor at the back by keeping it on a pillow the screen facing down - it will reolve the problem if the failure is due to the loosening of the Head due to repeated thermal expansion and contaction.
(2) check the signal cable for loose connection, twisting etc on both ends - at the back of the CPU and Monitor (it is fixed)
