KitchenAid KSBP25FKSS Side by Side Refrigerator Ice & water dispenser on door not working. I heard that this might be a celenoid problem?
Any ideas?
Steve
I had the same problem and had to have the entire door replaced. I thought it was a random thing since sometimes it would just start working again, but finally it just stopped for good. The wires that
are below the door on the left hand side (you can see them better when the lower front piece is removed) were severed and they can't be put back together without replacing the door. My repair guy (the refrig. was still under warranty) told me it was a design or installation defect and that he has seen it time and again. Evidently, when they install the wiring, they don't leave enough room to stuff the wires out of the way of the closing door and eventually, it severs them over time.
This refrigerator has other design problems, which Kitchenaid refuses to address...Does your ice maker spill ice all over the inside of your freezer because of the gap at the back of the bin? Constantly hearing the clitter clatter of falling ice inside the freezer and having to pull everything out to remove all the pieces from the bottom of the freezer became such a nuisance my husband finally duct taped a piece a plastic to the bin to fill the gap. I won't buy another Kitchenaid anything because they wouldn't fix the problem.
Yes it could be the solenoid, but before replace it make it sure, you have power at the solenoid, if not then your door switch or wire in the door is broken (at the bottom)
You can direct power the solenoid if you are familiar with electricity, if not then please DO NOT TOUCH IT.
Before going to buy any parts
directly.

Had the same issue. But there is a fix if your handy with wires. Remove the lower cover plate below the doors (2 Screws). You will see black wire loom going into the bottom of the freezer door leading to under the freezer. Remove all tie down screws and ground screw. Cut away all wire ties. Unplug wire harness under freezer. Carefully **** the wire loom up and completely cut a way the wire loom and dispose of. You can now see which wires exactly need to be spliced from rubbing on the door. Solder and shrink tube all connections back together. Wrap all wire together with electrical tape. Provide new wire loom and install of wiring. Mount everything back but I would use one less wire mount to create more slack in the line to prevent future breakage. Should work just like new. I have had zero issues since using this fix. Good Luck and I hope this has helped you.
