Applications can''t access GPRS

I have an Idea Cellular GPRS connection, and they sent me the config settings, so the gprs is working on the preloaded browser that comes with the mobile. However, other apps, like Gmail Mobile, the Opera mini browser, and Widsets can't access the net for some reason...Do i have to change some settings to allow them access to my gprs connection? do i have to set the connection to 'always on'? I already tried changing the application access settings so that it would only ask once whether to allow network access, and that time i gave it access, so i don't know why this is happening. Through the built-in browser, i can surf and download stuff properly, but no other application is getting access to the internet only!!

SOURCE: airtel gprs

That is where Airtel takes us for a ride. Once you have GPRS activated then they send you the settings by am sms. These settings are for Mobile office, Airtel Live and MMS. Mobile Office is free under GPRS whatever plan you have. But for using Live and MMS you pay through your nose despite GPRS.
So, go to settings and delete the Airtel Live and MMS so thet even my mistake you do not use them. Use only Mobile Office.

I want to activate my GPRS for my phone Nokia 2760. How? And i want to activate my mobile internet so i can explore internet through my phone. Thank you..

Before you can use GPRS technology, contact your network operator or service provider for availability of and subscription to the GPRS service. Save the GPRS settings for each of the applications used over GPRS. For 40 information on pricing, contact your network operator or service provider.
How to activate GPRS steps: Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Packet data > Packet data connection. Select Always online to set the phone to automatically register to a GPRS network when you switch the phone on. Select When needed, and the GPRS registration and connection are established when an application using GPRS needs it and closed when you end the application.

My phone keeps saying there is aproblem connecting to gprs service in your registered home network

All phones need APN setting to make them work for gprs or data functions.
You can find the settings from your network operator and then you can follow this video guide on how to enter APN settings in any HTC phone.
This is a tutorial on how to add APN settings to HTC phones for your network providers. Example phone used is a HTC Hero but process is same for all HTC models.
APN and Data Settings Change for HTC Phones
  1. Go to settings -> wireless controls
  2. Go to Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
  3. Click Menu and select New APN
  4. All you need to add for most networks is just the APN setting which can be obtained from your simcards network provider
  5. Press Menu and Save
  6. You are ready and have configured data connection settings.
Enjoy your HTC phones unlocked for Voice and Data for any network. see video below

How to open the GPRS and MMS of nokia 5300 classic

related to this problem
in some sim card its preactivated gprs sevice available
you just hv to choose the correct access point.

for example : if you are using 'Idea Cellular' then the correct access point for gprs is 'IDEA INTERNET or IDEA FRESH ' you can check these settings by going WEB/SETTINGS.
IF ITS NOT PREACTIVATED THEN
just call your sim card service provider (customer care )
and ask them to activate gprs and mms service on your number

after getting activation

then on your mobile phone to to menu/web
now your can access any site on your mobile

and about mms it easy to use its just like using sms

Unable to connect to the net with opera mini on my Nokia 3230

to connect to the internet & to send & receive mms messages you must activate the GPRS first from your network provider ...The best thing you can do is to contact the customer care of your network provider and ask for the activation of GPRS ...
they will tell you the procedure to activate it ....
they will tell the number to which the message to be sent to recieve the settings ....
so note that down and then follow the procedures told by them ...
you will receive the gprs settings(profile) also ... make sure of the charges with them there will be many plans & then get activated ...
after this you will able to connect to internet ....
if the customer people tell you that your handset is not compatible then you must tell to give the manual settings(includes ip address,APN,etc) so that you can only create the profile and input the information given by the customer care people...

any further doubts reply me
i am always here to assist you ..
thank you
bye...

Browsing on Mobile

to access internet from the k550i you have to have an active GPRS account

You should have the provision of GPRS from the service provider.
Once you activate GPRS from the provider... there will be a settings message that will be sent to you by the provider.. or you can take the settings from websites of the providers. like vodofone.com etc.

once you set your GPRS settings to the service provider's specification, you can connect to the internet thru GPRS / EDGE phone.

For setting the GPRS specifications manually you have to create a new "internet profile" in the "connectivity" in your phone menu... and change name, port, gateway...etc all these will be provided by the service provider in its site or will be sent as a message after GPRS activation.
