Toshiba laptop stuck on Microsoft Corportation screen

My laptop was configuring updates last night for over an hour. I held the power button down to shut it off. This morning I turned it on and it would boot as far as the Microsoft Corporation screen with the status bar above it. I tried shutting it off and turning back on in safe mode when prompted and all I get is a black screen with a white mouse. I tried unplugging the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds to drain the power and plugged in the power cord without putting the battery in and nothing works. I don't have a cd/dvd that came with the computer. Please help.

I decided to leave the computer at the screen its stuck on to see if anything different would happen. It's been stuck like this for over an hour now

I should clarify that it wouldn't actually configure the updates. It got stuck loading those too.

I plugged the battery back in, tried starting it in safe mode again, and it brought me back to the system recovery options window, but there is no OS listed

Not to sure how that can be fix for its very important to have the updates done for it updates the system and it is required to let the process finish. Take your computer to a shop and they will be able to help u but do not ask how much it would cost. :)

If the Windows update installation is truly frozen, you have no other choice but to hard-reboot. Depending on how Windows and BIOS/UEFI are configured, you might have to hold down the power button for several seconds before the computer will turn off. On a tablet or laptop, removing the battery may be necessary.Apr 6, 2023

My laptop screen is sayin failure configuring

More specifically, holding down the power button on a computer for at least 5 seconds will sht it down. When you press the power button to start it up again, let it do what it needs to. Hopefully it will un-do the changes it attempted to make and everything will be fine again. I've seen this happen only a handful of times when Ive worked on clients computers, and its always a bit worrying, but it usually fixes itself..

If it doesnt work, one thing you can try, is while the computer is starting up, hold down the F8 key. You should see a black and white screen with text and a list of options.. one of them should say something along the lines of "Last Known Good Configuration", use the arrow keys to highlight it and press enter. That will load the last saved system settings and hopefully will get you going as well

Why Toshiba Satellite A665 Laptop won't start?

Have you tried pressing space bar (maybe its in hibernation mode) ?

or try holding power button for a few seconds (10) then turn it back on.

as a last resort you could try take the battery out, disconnect it from the power adapter, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then place the battery back in and the power adapter and try powering it on?

Installing updates stuck

What version of Windows is this? I am going to assume Vista/7...
Even though it's not recommended to power off the computer while it's updating, I have done this several times when they are stuck for hours.

If you want to risk it, Hold the power button down for 5-7 seconds and the computer will have it's power cut. Wait another 30 seconds after the power down and start it back up. It should start installing updates procedure again. In my experience, it usually works after this. It still can take some time though, so be patient.

Oh dear that's the worst thing that can happen during a bios update. the bios chip is probably now useless rendering the laptop useless. You will need a new motherboard I am afraid to say.

try this if ur notebook shows a little sign of life....

or else
1. unplug the laptop
2.take out the battery
3.hold down the power button for 20 seconds (doing this drains any excess power fron the unit)
4.put battery back in
5.plug in laptop
6.try to turn it on

All the best
