The hammer inside the drill head are most likely damaged ans/or broken, it is likely the best thing to do is just replace the tool.

SOURCE: I have the black and decker hammer drill model

look at the back of the brush holder for a tab that the forward/reverse lever locks into, it might be broken not allowing it to shift.

SOURCE: Hilti TE-5 does not drill

Check the motor if the motor has power and then the gears are not working. If the motor doesnt have any power then you need to check for power. To get at the gears you are going to need to remove the chuck

If the unit no longer hammers it may be time for a service pack. (overhaul). You can get overhaul kits at any Bosch Authorized Service Center.

Hi, I have a dewalt dc213 but it put it on hammer mode, it still rotates. I can still use the hammer mode, but it is hard to remove tiles when it keeps rotating. Anyone knows what is wrong?

there is a 3 position switch on it- set it to hammer only which is all the way to the left going clockwise- if its set to hammer only and is still spinning then it has malfunctioned and it has no user serviceable parts.
if you did take it apart you could just ask for whatever help you needed or contact an expect directly for immediate help
good luck

How do I connect the chuck key to the chuck key holder on the DW235G drill?

Easiest is to tape the chuck on the cord about 18" away from the plug, this way-for safety reasons, you should disconnect it before making adjustments (with the chuck in hand and you accidentally pull the trigger and bad things can happen.)

My dewalt drill won't switch to hammer

I had the same problem. You need to manipulate either the speed or the torgue. In some cases both. Sometimes the drill/hammer feature gets stuck in between the two an this is the only way to fix it unless taking it apart but I wouldn't do that yourself. Best to take it back to the dealer or service shop

I have the chance of a cheap D25303K dewalt 230 volt drill. does it have a chisel rotation stop (percussion only) feature ?

Go to the Dewalt service website at http://servicenet.dewalt.com, put the model number in the parts search box and you'll be able to view or download the parts breakdown and owner's manual. By the manual that model does have three modes; a hammer only, drill only and hammer/drill.

Will it go back and forth as well as rotate?

depends on the drill. give me the brand and model number and I will try and help. Some hammers have a selector on the side to go from hammer drill to hammer and then drill only. Let me know and I will try and help

Was using with a spsde bi and hit a nail. Now

You may have inadvertently hit the hammer/drill switch and it is floating the middle between functions. This selector switch has a symbol showing a drill bit on one side and a symbol of the hammer on the other. Engage the switch bacK into the drill position

Chuck is locked open

you have three jaws in your chuck, one of them will probably have a small burr on it causing it to stick.

try this...

tap the chuck with a small hammer then try to use the chuck key gently in the opposite key hole to the hammer blows. turn chuck though 120degrees and repeat.

if this does not work chucks are fairly universal and easily replaced (i would recommend a keyless jacobs). you can get the old one off by removing the ph2 (phillips) machine screw inside the centre of the chuck... be careful!! this screw is usually soft and counter threaded... when screw removed bash off the chuck with a hammer and cold chisel...

good luck

Drill will rotate but will not hammer under load

most of these types of tools have a manual switch it will be located on the body of the drill just behind the chuck on top or bottom or oposit the grip handle. some models have 2 switches.you want to make sure the switch points to the picture that shows a hammer and drill together.also rember it needs to have down pressure for the hammer part to activate.

I removed the screw from inside, now what's the trick to remove?

I don't know what tool or brand we are talking about but if it is a cordless what you need to do is shift the lever to the low position, put the clutch in the drill only position and find a bent handle allen wrench about the same size as the chuck, lock the short end in the chuck and place the chuck on a block of wood or workbench and position the wrench about 30degree angle to hit the long portion counterclockwise it might take a couple shots but it should work. Installation is in reverse procedure. If we are talking about another tool please let me know and I will help

Replaceing chuck on a Dewalt Dw511 1/2" hammer drill.

Open the chuck jaws and you will see a screw in the center of chuck, it is left hand thread. remove it and use a large bent handle allen wrench putting the short portion in the jaws and tightening. Shift the drill to the low position and have the clutch in the drill only position. place the handle of the wrench at about a 30 degree angle to strike it counterclockwise. put the chuck on a block of wood or workbench and hit it, this might take a couple times but it will come off. Let me know if you still need help
