Hyundai coupe se 2ltr 2001 front wheel bearing ceased to brake disk

Car was making small intermittent noise.took to garage ended up with bill for nearly £500.They said caliper had broke which in turn was the probable cause of my wheel bearing being ceased onto my brake disc, they heated to remove and cracked my nearly new brake disc bill also included brake pads and 5hours labour.Friend said I should not pay for discs as garage should have used press , Put this to garage and they told me you can only use press for new or nearly new bearings ,and if they are ceased on solid like mine apparently were, the only option is heat!!Friend also states if my caliper was broken and my bearings ceased solid to brake discs the car would be making an almighty noise and braking would not be normal. My brakes were 100% ok when I drove into garage and the noise i went in with I still have !!! Friend sat in car and went for short run and identified noise as coming from rear of car and probably my rear caliper .The wheel in question which the garage have 'fixed' is the front drivers side. Would greatly appreciate anyone's views on this.Linda

Hiya this does sound iffy ? but b4 i comment /offer an opinion could you or your friend jack up the wheel in question that has had repair and look at how the brake disc is secured to the actual hub assy that wheel bearing is housed in ? also caliper? cracked?? is it now a new one? have never had problem renewing front or rear bearings in past using the correct tool/s a hydraulic press is the best method for removing excessive siezed components as for your friend now saying noise is from rear ? it may be pads worne or disc/s corrosion/scoured so investigate and update what you discover ? sounds like big hammer garage?

Part number & where to source output shaft bearings for 2003 uk reg 1.6 litre manual Hyundai Coupe.

The easy way is to go to the dealership parts department. They would keep those in stock. Or you go to a spares motor factor like the ones below. They are picking up 'wheel bearings', but they can supply all bearing parts..

What is causing a howling/chattering noise on my 2009 Hyundai Elantra SE with 106,000 miles on it? It gets louder and higher-pitched the faster you go.

Is this at the front or back of the vehicle? Because the sound changes with speed it will be something to do with the brakes or a wheel bearing.
Get a good mechanic to check for a sticking front calliper or a sticking rear brake cylinder. Also check for play in the wheel bearings.

Roaring sound while in motion.Even if the shifters is in neutral the sound does not cease. Is is because of worn out wheel bearing?

Where the sound coming from? Front or back? It could be a number of things. It could be bearings, it could be a cracked brake pad rubbing against the disk, under inflated/worn out tires

Hotmaimy 2001 buick la sabrer in the morning when I first back up has a growling or grinding noise. It has been getting louder and louder. sounds like coming from the back end. took it to the mechanic...

Did the technician check the rear axle bearings for excessive play or the source of the noise when he checked the rear brakes if this was not checked properly you may have a bad bearing that is making the noise.

Rear wheel bearing hyundai coupe

just remove the wheel and count the teeth on the ring on the rear brake thats all you need to do. Since you can't drive it take it off and take it in to compare parts so you don't have to go back twice. You will need a new wheel seal and race and bearings.

Noise from the front

Car will pull if brake is binding...as soon as your speed cannot overcome the amount of braking being applied. Be careful when examining it the rotor will be much hotter than normal. (sometimes will turn blue and warp as well)

1994 Pick up. Came into the shop needing brakes

Yes it could be your wheel bearings but it also could be the pins that hold your brake pads in. The pins need to be well lubercated to allow the pads to move freely on them. the wheel bearing might be miss adjusted or have some thing in them causing the noise. i would first check the caliper make sure the pads are not draging on the rotor at all. make sure the pads do not have rocks or dirt stuck in them. The problem is most likely to be with your brakes or even your dust cover for your front rotors. make sure the dust cover is not bent where it is touching the rotors.
