Bottom freezer working fine. French door refrigerator on top not working. Took off damper cover in fridge, damper opens/closes, but no air coming out. Turned off fridge/freezer for several hours and unplugged. Restarted. Freezer is getting cold, fridge is not. Cleaned coils underneath. Live in country, was told at least 3 weeks until sears could come out. That won't work, tried to sell us an extended warranty. I just want it to work. I am handy excluding the the condenser/refrigerant system. Thinking it may be a evap fan. Fixing to take off ice maker and remove freezer back panel. Will see if anything is there. Any thoughts as to what I may be in store for? Evap Fan, defroster etc. Thanks for the help in advance.

good then go ahead and ohm out the sensor and the relays to see if the resistance is close to the normat. 70 degrees is roughly 1000 ohms. relay you are lookling for continuity or open. then you can also ohm the fan motor too. let me know what you find;.that will determin whts bad and whats good

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).
Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.

Hi Louis,
This is what has happened. Due to the door being opened for so long moisture which is naturally in the air has collected on your freezer coils. What you need to do is turn the whole thing off for at least 24 hours. Open the doors and put some towels around it to let the frost melt out.
All the air that gets cooled in your unit gets cooled by a fan that pulls air through those coils. Once the frost has melted out of them it should cool just fine.
