We installed a new timer but it did not solve the cycling problem. The washer will fill and wash until you manually turn the dial to the next cycle. Each cycle must be manually set.
The cycle does not advance because the mnachine is not able to drain water.
Check the drain hose.
Check all drain lines for obstructions or air gap.
Test the drain valve and/or the solenoid that activates the drain pump and eventually replace it.
Well..timer is ticking, check?
the knob is not moving, right?
seems that one of two things is happening
the knob is loose(not likely)
or
the mechanism is trashed between the clicker and the ticker feel up to doing the swap out of that whole mechanism?
The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

I seem to be able to hear the timer running but the dial does not advance.
