LEAKING WATER Everytime I brew a pot of coffee, water leaks from the bottom, all over my counter. I have emptied and cleaned the machine and inspected it, and cannot figure out where the water is coming from.

Just bought this piece of junk used for $40 and I feel like I was overcharged $50 (took me about two gallons of gas to go pick it up and then get back, plus the three hours trying to get the machine to work right... it still does not work right, I just gave up). It leaks water out the bottom, the machine trips the circuit, and it brews a pathetically weak cup of coffee because the water runs so fast (I got around this problem by unscrewing the water spout, cleaning it really good, and then duct-taping over four of the five holes it used to dispense water).

We've had ours for about 18 months or so and it leaks quite a bit (at least a half-cup of warm, clear water) every time we brew a pot of coffee. This started a month or so ago. We're in an office setting, so we use it somewhat more than a family at home would, but it still sounds like planned obsolescence to me. We emptied it out and tried to get inside of it to see if there was anything obvious that needed repair, but despite removing every screw we could find we couldn't get inside "the works." We're campaigning for a new coffee solution - it won't be a Waring!

When we pour fresh water into the top, it leaks about 3 oz cold water during the fill

We have had our for about 18 months also and it starting leaking water about three months ago. I am trying to get it fixed but no one seems to work on these locally.

water leaking from the bottom after one year of use. Customer service should be available and a help line. For cost of this appliance, expected better service. Replacements should be available at little or NO cost.

  • Anonymous Jan 06, 2008

We have used our unit for roughly 14 months. The leaking seems to be sporadic - sometimes 12 cups in equals 12 cups out, but sometimes 12 in = wet counter space. Problem increases with the ambient temperature - a lot of condensation. I cannot seem to locate an exact source, and will not invest the time it takes to fully disassemble this machine. It's been a wonderful appliance but this is a large disappointment considering the cost. Plus the fact that there are no authorized repair centers within 100 miles. If no easy fix can be found, I would recommend this machine only to those who would replace their coffee brewers yearly in a business-expense situation.

Well First I had to ship the thing back within the warranty period to have low water censor fixed, then about a year later it is leaking all over the counter, I did take it apart and have found one crack in the top water compartment, sealed with high temp sealant, pit back together and tried it 24 hours later still leaking. Must be another crack in the thing some place, I am ready to throw away after all of this, will not buy any more WARING PRO Products. That's over 200. dollars for 1.5 years of use, not worth it to me, I think I am Going With a BUNN Coffee Maker.

  • Anonymous Apr 07, 2008

After 3 years of flawless coffee, we are now getting clean, hot water running out the bottom rhs. The coffee made also has grains in it. I removed the "spreader" and the problem stopped, but the speader was not plugged in any way and the resultant coffee was weak and inferior. It's now at the local garage, the guys have it apart... will keep you posted if anything should arise.

I went through 4 Bunn's that all leaked the same, so I decided never to buy another Bunn and bought the 12-Cup Waring Pro. It seems exactly the same problem as the Bunn. Designed to fail...

I love the kitchenaid coffee pot. after about 6 months, the water pours out of the bottom of the reservoir when filling it. So, I buy another one. Then after about 6 months, it happens again.

Leaking water from bottom of unit during brewing:
  • Verify that the water is leaking from the bottom of the coffee maker and not just running down the back during filling and pooling underneath. (Look under coffee maker - without lifting - to see if water droplets are hanging from bottom of unit)
Resolution:

If verified that water is leaking from bottom of coffee maker Contact Us for further assistance.

How do I fix my bunn #053213cs from leaking from the bottom

VPR has a semi-sealed tank that keeps +1 pot of water heated and ready to brew. Pouring in a full pot of cold water will fill the top tray and allow a slow trickle of cold water into the top which forces hot water to over flow into the brew basket. This continues until all the cold water drains into the heater tank. So the brew is matched volume per volume. UNLESS the tank was empty or not filled prior to brewing. Follow the brewing instructions from Bunn (on line for *FREE* download at Bunn.com)
* If it leaks (from the bottom) only when you pour in water. Then your pouring it too fast and over flowing the fill tray. slowdown, watch the level in the tray. do not fill past the lid.
* If it leaks just sitting (not brewing) then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
* If it leaks after filling the tray half way. then the top of the tank has a leak, loose, cracked, or missing gasket. There is quite a few gaskets on the lid. Call for service.
* Final; Leaks are always bad around electrical equip. Best to unplug and call for service to be safe.

Cant start the coffee

VPS/VPR (VP17-3 are the same except it has 3 lower warmers) are pour over brewers. Like the 12 cup brewers you find at home, they need to be filled with 12 cups of water (a full pot), heated and then peculated over the coffee grounds and collected in a decanter.
BUT there is one main difference! The VPR and similar COMMERCIAL coffee machines are quick brewers. They usually have a pre-heated pot of water stored inside the machine.
* VPR's and similar machines REQUIRE a pre-fill and heating period prior to brewing. This means it's sitting on a level table and filled with water until water sprays from the brew head. At this point the unit is plugged in and the heater is turned on (there may be some water discharge from brew head as the water expands). Ready light will come on in about 15 mins.
* To Brew; Place coffee grounds in filter, place in funnel and brew head, clean empty decanter under funnel, slowly pour one full decanter of water (cold or hot) into brew tray. Do not overflow tray. Allow water level to sink before adding more water. Only fill with one pot as an equal amount will come out the brew head and funnel.
* Make sure the decanters are all the same size. do not mix a 12 cup pot with a 10 cup pot. One will over fill and the other will under fill. Make sure they match (in cup volume) FYI; Thermo Air pump pots are usually bigger than one pot. Typical filling only to 3/4th of the container. (I think most are in 2.5 to 3 liter sizes)
* If your not getting a full pot then the brewer was partially empty. The second brew (if done within the next hour) should come out full.
* If your still not getting a full pot then the water is leaking or is boiling off. Does it always steam from the top? Thermostat is shorted. Unplug the brewer and call vendor for service.
* Final; If your unplugging when not in use. Then follow the Pre-heat instructions mentioned above prior to plugging the brewer back in. If the tank has been emptied at night or dried up after an idle week. Then there is a chance you may over heat and blow the thermal fuse. Or at best have a half pot short brew as the water dried up.
* Note leaving the brewer plugged in without brewing daily is not a good idea. The water evaporates and eventually drys out the pot. Takes about 1-2 weeks but it does blow the fuse(s) and the unit will need service.
* Final; Follow the Bunn set up and care instructions (manuals from Bunn.com for down loading. *FREE*)

Bunn pour omatic commercial coffee maker will not brew and it leaks

VPR is a pour over "Volume Displacement" brewer. Required to completely fill the inner tank and heat prior to using brewer. BEFORE plugging in unit, water must be poured into upper tray and with brew funnel and empty pot in place. Keep pouring water into top fill tray until water drips out of brew funnel. Plug in VPR and allow it 15-20 mins to heat up. leave the pot as there may be additional water dripping. Remove power if there is any water spilling out from other places like the top pan cover or bottom of machine. With the initial heating done, take a full pot of water and slowly pour into the top filling tray. HOT steaming water should come out of the brew funnel to fill the (empty) pot. Prep is done and the machine can be used to brew a pot after 10-15mins of reheat time.
*** the machine you have needs to be checked for leaks in areas mentioned above. Water should only come out of brew funnel (if not present then the brew head or if that is missing then the brew pipe. All will need to be replaced prior to brewing.) Leaking under machine is an indication of leak(s) in pour tray, tank, tank cover, gasket, probe gasket. This machine like any used equipment should be checked out by qualified tech prior to use. Be aware that coffee vendors sometimes rent or loan brewers to customers.

WATER LEAKS BOTTOM OF UNIT WHEN IS MAKING COFFEE ALSO, HOW DO YOU DECALCIFY UNIT? iS THERE AN ON LINE MANUAL?

Hi,
Below are solutions for a leaking coffee maker and how to decalcify the machine?
Tools and Materials needed to fix this problem are as:
* White Vinegar * Fresh Water * Volt-ohm Meter * Screwdriver
Step 1 - Clean
If your coffee maker seems to be clogged, try cleaning it with a mixture of white vinegar and water. Assuming that your coffee maker has a 12 cup capacity you will want to use 11 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of water. Fill the coffee pot to the 11 cup mark with vinegar and then fill it to the 12 cup mark with water.
Pour this mixture into the reservoir and turn on the coffee maker, allowing it to run through a brewing cycle as if you were making a pot of coffee. By doing this you will dissolve any build up in your coffee maker. If the coffee maker is leaking because the pump is clogged, then this might clear the clog and stop the leaking. If it has been a while since you last cleaned your coffee maker, you may need to run the vinegar through more than one cleaning cycle to dissolve all of the buildup.
Step 2 - Pump Valve
Unplug the coffee maker and examine the pump valve. If the pump valve is broken or has a clog, then the water will not be able to rise up and flow through the fill tube. When the coffee maker is turned on, the water needs to go someplace. If it cannot flow through the fill tube, then it may leak onto the countertop. If the pump in your coffee maker is sealed, you will need to replace the whole pump. If the pump is not sealed you should check it to ensure it is not clogged with coffee grounds or mineral deposits.
Step 3 - Brew Switch
Examine the brewing switch to ensure that is working. To get to the brewing switch, remove the base plate. Next, you will need to test the switch with your volt-ohm meter. Touch the tester to the RX1 scale. If it reads 0 ohms then you will know that the switch works fine. If it gives you a number other than 0 then it is time to replace the switch.
Step 4 - Tube Connectors
If the coffee maker is leaking or sputtering then you should take a look at the tube connectors. Many times, a leaky coffee maker is caused by faulty tube connectors. If you find the leak is in an elbow, clean the surfaces before you replace it. If the tube connector leaks, replace both the tube and the elbow so that you can be sure the pieces will both fit together properly.
To decalcify, you will be needing a : decalcifying cleaner and A container large enough to hold the same quantity of liquid as your water reservoir
1) Remove the machine's water reservoir. 2) Empty all liquid from the reservoir. 3) Fill the reservoir with warm water. 4) Add one packet of the recommended cleaner to the full reservoir and stir until the cleaner is dissolved. 5) Return the water reservoir to the machine. 6) Turn the machine on. 7) Set the large container underneath the steam wand. 8) Set up your machine so that hot water -NOT steam-will be emitted from the steam wand when the steam valve is opened. 9) Open the steam valve according to the manufacturer's instructions. 10) After all of the decalcifying solution has drained into the large container (within a few minutes this will occur), remove it and discard the liquid that has been collected. 11) Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and then fill it with the type of water you usually use for brewing. 12) Return the water reservoir to its normal position. 13) Using only water repeat steps 7 through 9 until the water reservoir is empty again.
I hope the above helps....
Good luck.

Leaking from the bottom

If it does it whenever the tank is put on the machine then the hose from the tank is disconnected.
If it does it when the machine is brewing coffee or after, then clean the chamber behind the brew unit, under the white plastic valve.
If it is leaking when making steam or hot water then the booster boilerhas a leak.

Bunn coffee maker leaks all over the counter. What

there's probably a 'silicon rubber' hose that feeds hot water to the 'grounds basket'- it may be loose, or damaged. is it leaking water, or coffee?? we have a bunn 8-cup, which has a pre-heated water tank that brews a pot in about 3 min. energy waster, but when you need coffee, you need coffee!!! is your filter holder properly centered? is the carafe lid hole clean and un-obstructed?
if it's leaking water, and not too costly to replace- you may consider replacing it with a new one!
good luck!

Water leaking out the bottom of the coffee maker

If it leaks DURING brewing, you may have to decalcify it (aka, run through a cycle of 4 cups vinegar, fill to the top with water, 2-3 times and see if it helps).
If it leaks before you even start brewing a pot of coffee, something is broken on the inside of the coffee maker, and I would recommend contacting Waring--they may be able to get you a replacement coffee maker (and if you're under warranty, usually a replacement would be free!).

Their phone number (according to their website, www.waringproducts.com ) is 1-800-4WARING (1-800-492-7464)

Good luck! :)

Bunn Coffee machine only makes 1/2 pot

What's happening is that it isn't leaking, it's boiling over. You need to turn down the thermostat under the top lid. Also, before you brew coffee, add water to the tank and let it pour into an empty pot. Once it stops brewing, let it heat up for a few minutes then make your pot of coffee.
