Good morning Marine, You seem to have the answers so I was wondering if you could help me out please.
I have a Dacor Preference SGM365 gs cooktop. One control
knob will not cause it's respective burner (or any burner) to spark. If
I use another control knob, it does spark and ignite.
So the problem appears to be with the control knob and not the burner or the ignitor.
I too have a Dacor SGM365S. The burner most used (right front) will not light. It sparks once then stops but continues to pour out gas. If I light any other burner, it will spark the right front burner and light it. Vigorous cleaning of the right front ingnitor post with a dry tooth brush allows it to work for a short time, then back to not lighting again. Other times, using that same burner will cause all of the other burners to spark continuously for several minutes - but the right front does light. It is the only burner that causes these issues. many ovens are made to click like that and nothing is wrong with burner oven, its a safety measure to let you know gas is on or escaping. I f you turn the knob bac or forward a little bit it will go off and flame will still burn. Other words you may have a dirty spark igniter , see pics
Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.
There is no fuses, as long as you have a power supply into unit then the only item that can cause this fault is a faulty spark generator.the hob will need to be dismatled to repair, remove the knobs, remove the burners and then remove the obvious screws, top will lift off

If I'm not mistaken, these dacor cooktops have an automatic re-ignition (meaning if the flame goes out, it will just relight it without you having to do it) If none of your burners will light, you probably have a bad spark ignition module. These are somewhat hard to change, as you have to take all the burners off and disconnect the spark wires and take the whole top of the cooktop off to get to the inner workings. Also, to get these burner bases off it takes a special tool by dacor, AND you usually have to replace all the burner seals once you take them apart.Your other, simpler option is to unplug the cooktop and plug a lamp or something in to the outlet the cooktop is using, just to make sure you have power. Just cause the breaker doesn't look like it's tripped, doesn't mean it isn't bad and the outlet is dead. Hope this helps!
