First I'm not an MXQ remote tech, but I am familiar with electronics and IR programing.
* If you still have the old remote then use the "learning" method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTQZWkMktSo
* Other wise check your paper work on the remote or updated codes on the MFR help line. Many codes are just what the MFR was given by the TV MFR and probably changed during the making of this model.
* You will probably have to try all the codes for the brand that you have. Note that other options (like VCR, DVD) buttons can be used to replace the TV button. Though it would probably work the best when programing with the TV button.
* Last resort; go through all (yeah like 999 possible combinations) the codes to find the right one. WRITE it down once you find it as you will need it again when you change batteries on the remote. Didn't learn after 2 battery changes or just dropping it on the floor and battery fall out.
* There may be a possible option to auto search to "turn off" the TV set to find the correct setting. But though this may work for you, the problem is, you don't know the combination and have to do the auto search every time you change the battery. It does take a while (20 mins) but it's better than punching in combos 1000 times.

PS you may find a replacement remote for your set brand/model on Amazon.com and forgo all the problems.
Need more info to assist you with the issue. Does the tv work except the volume turns down by itself even with the batteries removed from the remote? If so its either the Tact switch for the vol down has an issue or the main board has an issue. If the remote wont work the tv properly either or not at all too then i would say the main board is causing both conditions. If you require further assistance please let me know.
Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following: Automatic Programming With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.
1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.
2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control (TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.
3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.
4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.
5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.
Note: • To exit without storing the code, press BACK. • T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over. 6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

Check if the remote is in TV position, that is, because most of the remote controllers have the feature that you can program them for use with another devices. Make shure that one button that says "TV" in pressed and released once before you try to change any function on the TV.
well depends on how far it turns the volume down as to what the cause is and if the volume bar on screen display comes on when the vol. goes down. if it just goes down a little you probably have the "smart sound" setting turned on in the audio menu turn it off and see if prob. goes away. if the vol. bar comes on the screen whenever the vol. goes down the you most likely have a bad button on your front panel and it doesn't have to be the vol. down button. it you think it is the button it would need solder work to be changed most likely shop job.
Check volume up switch in front panel locked continuously. If it is not take away the remote control from the TV or remove the battery in the remote. Because maybe the remote continuously sending volume up commands. Rarely this type problem occurs through remote control also. Even problem is not sorted there is problem in EEPROM ic (memory ic). This can be sorted out by the technical persons only. I hope this useful to you.
